| eapoll1102-05-07, 12:32 PM | Ok i need advice or tips on what to do because the last to sessions me and my party have been stuck. We came to a small town and they had two children kidnapped. We then discovered that tracks lead to the bridge and looked around and under the bridge was a hole. We went into the hole discovered whererats and barely made it back out (mind you we did not have any silver weapons or magical). We tried many things from trying to see if we could get a couriour to another town to get us silver weapons but the dm is basically trying ot keep us in this town with no magical or silver weapons. We tried burning a fire in the hole ot try and smoke them out it didnt work. Our cleric went around town detecting evil to see if we could spot whererats in human form but everyone checked out good.... Were stuck anyone have any tips or ideas let me know asap.... |

It sounds like it's time for some detective work. Why are the wererats kidnapping children? Have those been the only children kidnapped? (... what makes them special...) (... did the children belong to the wererats, to begin with...) Were the children in good or bad living conditions before the kidnapping? (... are the wererats actually "good", and taking the children to "a better place"...) Has the town had to deal with lycanthropes (and specifically wererats) in the past? (... why does the town not have silver to defend itself...) What does the town plan on doing about this? (... or are they solely depending on you...) Does the town have a "dirtly little secret"? (... were the children given up to the wererats, as compensation for keeping that secret...) (... by the town, even if the parents are crushed by the loss...) Can you make a deal, with the wererats? (... are the children being held hostage for an ulterier motive...) What do the wererats plan on doing with the children, now that they have them? (... integration into their society... breeding stock... sacrifice...) My suggestion is to start asking lots of questions around town, and see where it leads. Hope this helps! :D |

| eapoll1102-05-07, 01:44 PM | 1. Do not know why the whererats are kidnapping the children 2. The dm says that two children have been stolen 1 every two weeks 3. The town is fairly new and there has been a problem with wererats years ago but no one rembers what happened to them 4 when we tried to smoke them out the townspeople for the most part help us gather would and bring it to the hole under the bride 5. It doesnt seem that the children are being held hostage for the most part My dm is very onesided meaning that he rarely gives you a break or hint we tried doing that silver pieces melt down and he gave us a very low roll that we need to make or else we screw up our weapons We are all good characters and our cleric detected evil and came up with nothing after walkign around the town. I dont think our dm want us to fight these things. Plus i dont know how we could communicate with these rats no one speaks and also the house that they stole the children from also seemed random. the only thing right now i can think of is to ask around town and check out the house that the kids were stolen from. Is there anyway that we could detect if a human is a whererat for example a vampire doesnt show his reflection in a mirror.. any more tips would be helpful |
| xaqariah02-05-07, 02:20 PM | Communication with the wererats a problem? What level is the group? Clairaudience/Clairvoyance and Comprehend Languages could be used together to try and figure out what the wererats' motivations are. I'm going to guess, that it's reletively low level, if you do not currently have silver or magical weapons, so I'm guessing that the spell "Tongues" is straight out... What are the chances of leveling anytime soon, and having someone spend a Skill Point on whatever Language the wererats use? The wererats are kidnapping, and not killing the children outright, for a reason. You need to find out what that reason is, and put a stop to it. Hopefully, with your current situation, you can solve this matter non-violently. |
