OK, so I'm writing up an adventure set in a VERY recently haunted kobold mine. The big "boss" of the adventure is an evil cleric of Vroz (basically my campaign's version of Nerull). I've got plenty of kobold zombies, skeletons, and ghouls for now, but I'm looking for some new ideas to give the adventure some spice. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Funny you should mention mines, kobolds and cleric bosses...:P

I've played that one before, I want to make this more of an undead themed adventure, not one that involves plagues and diseases. Thanks though.

Obvious answer - pick up the Libris Mortis - Sourcebook for all things shambling and post-life.

You might also consider using the Terrible Cyst as descibed in the DMG II.

Beyond that - remember undead become a lot more fearsome if turning is not an option. Consider slapping Turn Resistence on a few, or have the BBEG use Bolster Undead freely. I seem to recal a spell in the Spell Compendium that disrupts turning too.

Oh, and if you want to go a little bit more HR Gieger - consider creating some sort of undead chimera - stiched together from the corpses of several different animals and then brought to unlife.

Try adding some spell-stitched zombies, and maybe a ghost kobold or two.

Kobold vampire spawn would be funny and scary at the same time.

A low area of the mine could be flooded with a heavy gas, a sort of 'stinking cloud' or 'cloudkill' effect that the undead would be immune to but the players would not. It could also start as a funny smell in the air and then each round it causes damage or ability damage or a save to avoid passing out.

You could also add a few non-undead creatures, like giant vermin or carrion crawlers or thoqqua - some variety is nice, plus it lets the rogue sneak attack and everyone can enjoy actually scoring criticals.

A flooded area of the mine would be a great place for skeletons to hang out.

A kobold spectre could harass the party at different times, drawing away after taking a few points of damage to head to the evil priest and get healed.

Well, obviously, there's a camp of Kobold Survivors hiding deep inside the mine, unable to break past the undead to make it out, that are desperatly trying not to get killed and become zombies themselves.

This offers the players a moral delima, as the Kobolds probably are still evil and still do evil things... but do they kill the people that are trapped? Do they help them escape? Do they let them have the mine back after they clear it? What do they do?

I actually do have plans for kobold survivors, but they're not evil. The kobolds in my campaign are a major player race, and they cooperate with humans, elves, etc.
