| Rauol_Duke06-12-04, 11:45 PM | I have run my group through the Shackled City campaign. They have most recently completed the Secrets of the Soul Pillars adventure and I will be running the Lords of Oblivion adventure when we next meet. Overall, I, as well as my players, have been very pleased with the Cauldron adventure path. It has been one of the most enjoyable "published" campaigns we have done. For the most part, the adventures are well written and the Campaign Seeds are a great addition to the format. If you are planning to run the adventure path, you already have one big advantage over me and others like myself who have ran each adventure as it came out...you know alot more about the plot than we did when we ran it. There were many times when the PC's would investigate things that I had no clue about, so it was a little difficult to steer them away from it or make things just cryptic enough to keep them intersted but not give away any details that I wasn't sure about. The characters that are involved in the campaign now are doing pretty well - three of the four are the original ones who started investigating the kidnappings in the first adventure, so they have alot invested in the campaign. Also, something that worked out fairly well for us is the fact that two of the four characters, coincidentally, had great tie-ins for the campaign: one was a Paladin of St. Cuthbert and another was a fighter/sorcerer with minor religious ties to Fharlanghn. These aspects, although unintended, served to keep the PC's very interested not only in the plotline, but in the town of Cauldron as a whole. There are only three adventures left in the path, and from what Erik Mona posted on another board, they will appear in Dungeon issues 113, 114 and 115. If you have any other specific questions about the Adventure Path, I'll be glad to give my two cents. :) |
| cypherdragon06-13-04, 03:38 PM | What I plan on doing since I do have all the issues is to put them into one binder and keep all notes, sidetreks, and such together. That way I will be able to plant seeds to further adventures and such. I think I'm going to wait until they finish the series though to start. I was just curious as to any problems that you may have come across during the campaign. Have your characters followed the storyline closely or what? And have they fell into the level constraints of the later adventures? Thanks for the info! |

My characters have followed the storyline closely, so far they haven't wanted to travel off the edge of the map or anything like that. At the completion of each adventure, the PC's are where they should be as far as levels go, the adventure path is pretty good about that - if the PC's do what they are supposed to do, they should get enough XP to be where they need to be for the next installment. Only in one or two adventures have I had to plug in a few random encounters to get them thier level - and this was mostly due to one or two od them falling behind a bit due to PC deaths. |
| Rauol_Duke06-20-04, 12:29 PM | By the way, my players thought that the toughest encounters they have faced so far are: 1. The Shrine to the Sea Mother (Area 5) in Zenith Trajectory 2. The Smithy (Area V10 in Vaprak's Voice) in The Demonskar Legacy 3. The Nexus Room in the Skull on Occipitus in Test of the Smoking Eye |
| cigaran06-20-04, 11:51 PM | Any word on them releasing this as one adventure book when it's all been published in a monthly format? I have all the parts so far and would still be willing to shell out a few more dollars for one book that collects all the adventure in one easy to reference place. |
| Rauol_Duke06-21-04, 12:10 AM | The idea of combining all of the "Shackled City" adventures into one "book" was suggested to Erik Mona (Editor in Chief, Dungeon magazine) in a thread on another board. He said that it was an interesting idea...I'd certainly buy it. By the way, Dungeon will be doing another adventure path in the near future, according to Erik. |
| Rauol_Duke06-26-04, 09:12 AM | Does anyone else have anything to add to help Cypherdragon? I'd like to hear others experiences with the adventure path. Did you like it? What encounters/adventures did your players find most challenging? Thanks. |
| Pyre_8906-26-04, 12:44 PM | I would love it if they made it into one big book, because i have missed the issues with Zenith Trajectory, Demonskar Legacy, and Test of the smoking eye. I have the other ones, but I can't find those ones!!! :u:/:r: |

You might want to try and order some of the back issues from Paizo.com They are issues 102, 104 and 107. |
