Hello everybody!

I'm very new here and have obvious problems with navigating the forums and advanced search, so I apologies if my question was already asked somewhere or if I posted it in the wrong forum section.

The problem is as follows - I'm very new to pen-and-paper D&D and I want to start playing, but my problem seems to be that there is only one person around that can play with me (at least for a year period or so). I could handle the DM part, as I'm fairly familiar with D&D mechanics (computer games, reading handbooks etc). But most adventures I can locate assume playing with 3-4 characters. My player is very new to the game and I think she could handle roleplaying only one character (maximum two, but it'll be much harder for her). I wonder if there are any adventures / modules / campaigns available for single-player game? I know about the "Quest for the Silver Sword", but it seems to be pretty short, and, frankly speaking, not very exciting. Any help here, please? I understand that I could write my own adventure, but it seems to be quite a challenge for such unexperienced DM as myself.

Please advice me if you could. I'd certainly prefer more roleplaying over combat adventures, and I'd certainly prefer longer module / campaign over fast-paced hack'n'slash. Though, maybe it's asking too much.

Thank you very much guys. Waiting for help.
