hey guys ive just started playing D&D, with a group of friends who have played a little. I am currently playing a Monk with a Vow of poverty, i think it adds flavour and he is pretty cool.
I have read up most of the books, and have writen up a Page of background because DM demands it :D
Hoping for some words of advise from the ghosts that haunt these hallowed boards.
Cheers :)

Never trust the rogue.
Enchant your body as a weapon as you advance. Having your fists "flaming bane" is impressive!

Don't over-extend yourself. Get a feel for the system before trying to pack in every feature, feat, prestige-class, etc. etc.

Note when you go to the books, and if the same topic constantly needs referencing, make a point of learning it (or book marking it, or making a cheat sheet).

Take it easy and keep it simple.

And enjoy yourself!

This is metagaming, but fun once in a while.
Look at the stuff the DM does. More often than not he'll give away that there was something good in the room you just left.

Now some serious advice. Trust your team mates. Not to the point of stupidity of course, but you'd be surprised at how long some trust can go into the future when you need a favour.

Thanks guys, yeah i guess its kinna hard for him to roll die silently :smirk:
Rolled up my char
15,18,14,13,18,9
put them in that order into my stats.
Seems to work well, i have to say i am loving my armor class, having been hit very little so far. AC-22:D
The charisma is alrite as we have a happy go lucky bard who everyone loves.
Any hints on feats and the like?

Nice stats. :)

As for feats and whotnot, I'd go for gneral ones, like Imroved Initiative, or Dodge. These are always handy, and let you have a while to get a feel for wat sort of character you want, and how the game works.

- the annoying bard

PS - Bards are better than monks :D

I just got level two, wohoo so much xp, almost died tho, we were ambushed by wild boars CR3 (i know scary rite ;) ) there were three, we took one down fast but the other two both rolled 19 and hit me hard, was on -4 hp. i love clerics now.
I took the feat from BoED, intuative attack so i now add my wisdom not my strenght to my attack rolls.
The character seems to be going well, he currently is funding a large part of the orphanage for half humans.
Thanks for the help

Yes im sure they are but they dont appeal to me.
I mean sure they are the all singing, all dancing, (all prancing?) characters of D&D but not for me.
i dont think ill take improved initiative, +4 at the moment seems to be working for me.
