i thought i read somewhere that only natural lycantrophes can bring the curse of lycantrophy to other creatures.
but i can't find this text anymore - it must've been in one of the three core books (or maybe i just dreamt this?).

can anyone help me?
can an afflicted lycantrophe cause the curse?

IIRC all lycanthropes, natural or afflicted, can pass on the curse.

Ah yes, my mistake.
The text can be found in the lycanthrope template under Special Attacks, Curse of Lycanthropy.
It says clearly at the end of the description 'afflicted lycanthropes cannot pass on the curse of lycanthropy.'

3.5 Monster Manual Page 176, under Special Attacks:
Curse of Lycanthropy: (Su) Afflicted lycanthropes cannot pass on the curse of lycanthropy.

I think there's one more hidden information about afflicted lycanthropes.

This:

Finally, a natural lycanthrope (or an afflicted lycanthrope that has become aware of its affliction) can assume a hybrid form that is a mix of its humanoid and animal forms
No hybrid form if you are unaware of your lycanthropy.
