Do they stack?

So a really old person (venerable? Or the one below it) gets a net -6 to physical and +3 to mental?

Or -3 to physical and +1 to mental?

I always read it as they didn't stack, only physical got worse. If it is the former, then Dragonwrought seems much better now.

Yes they do stack. It says so right under the table if I remember correctly, let me check.
Page 109 of the PHB in the left column it states they are.
"The effects of each aging step are cumulative. However, none of a character's ability scores can be reduced below 1 in this way."

Well, I feel silly.

But it makes me want to play a really old anthropomoprhic whatever from Savage Species.

Thanks!

Don't feel silly, you aren't the first to ask that question. With 320 pages, it's easy to skip something.:)

Definitely don't feel silly.
I had to consult that chart twice in the last few months. Not including this time for you. When you get reincarnated you can change age categories quite quickly.:D

silly is a puddy. and the puddy does age. getting crusty and more intelegent with each passing day. and soon the puddy will turn into a ball of crust that is so intelegent that the world will have to give into its sillyness.:P
