Kevtar 05-09-06, 10:34 AM	Hi all, We've been playing the Age of Worms adventure path and have had a great time. It's nice to be a player and not a DM, since I haven't really played much since 2ed. I don't know much about what has transpired to TSR/WOTC and other entities over the past few years, but I gather that Dungeon Magazine doesn't have rights to certain Greyhawk names like Tenser, Bigby, Mordenkainen, etc. Are these elements owned by Gygax, or does WOTC own them? I think AoW writers avoided Greyhawk specific names to help incorporate the adventure into any setting (replacing Tenser with Manzorian, Bigby with Riggby), but then again maybe they don't have the rights? Just curious as to who holds the rights to Mordenkainen, Tenser, Bigby, Rary, and the lot.

This is correct. WotC owns the rights to those names, and as a result of the contractual agreements between WotC and Paizo, Paizo can use them. The names were changed to help make the adventures more portable from one setting to another. They were also changed to avoid the "baggage" and history associated with those names.
