06-07-05, 05:59 PM I'm 27. I've been playing since 1994, when I was 16 . . . I started with the 2nd ed., moved from there to playing with the OD&D rules cyclopedia, then moved (with relish) to 3e, then to 3.5. In the midst of all this, waded through a bunch of 1e stuff. And I'm in the camp that firmly believes that the 3.5 rules set is the best one so far. By a mile.

06-08-05, 04:42 PM Im 30. Started RPGs when I was 12 with Fighting Fantasy books and by 14 was playing Robotech and LOTR (old school). Next year we moved onto Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with occaisional Rifts, D&D (red box, 1st ed and 2nd ed) as well as Marvel Superheroes. Our Turtle was the biggest campaign and included Ninjas and Superspies.
After grad played Shadowrun, Vampire, and more D&D. Recently have played L5R (original non D20 rules), Mekton, Cyberpunk, Street Fighter, Mage, Werewolf, Gurps, Teenagers From Outerspace, Champions (original, found a hardcover cheap) and various home brew games.

Currently playing Star Wars and 3.5.

3.5 is definately the best set of D&D rules. Yes it does have issues and some die hard 2nd ed players may not like it, but it is cleaner and the stuff they don't like can be played without pretty easily.

06-08-05, 10:44 PM Seeing the age of some of you geezers is making me feel like a little kid here. I'm 23, and I've been playing for about four years, having started with 3.0 on campus when a friend invited me to his weekly game. After about a year or so of playing happily, I decided to invest in some 3.5 material and try my hand at DMing (the only 3.0 book I had was the PHB). I am now more often a DM than a player but still do both and I own roughly a dozen 3.5 books.

06-08-05, 10:47 PM 24. Though technically a board game, it was HeroQuest (i was 12) that got me into the whole RPG craze. Then DnD seemed to be a natural jump. After that it was White Wolf games, and then my GM had his own rules system that sorta worked as a hybrid between D20, and World of Darkness. And then finally we started playing 3.0 when it came out, and we almost right away jumped to 3.5 when it launched.

Strangely enough I started getting into the style of game after playing Chainsaw Warrior (anyone else remember that game, it was the dogs twitcher!) when I was 9 or 10, then moved on to Hero Quest before starting to play Fighting Fantasy with my brother and a couple of his mates. After that we moved on to 1st edition DnD, then upgraded to 2nd, 3rd and finally 3.5.

06-09-05, 08:10 AM 38. Started with AD&D (1st edition) back in 1980 when I was 14. Played Villains & Vigilantes, Marvel Superheroes and Gamma World back in high school too. Didn't roleplay much in college. Got heavy into GURPS after college. A coworker got me back into D&D (2e) shortly before I moved to Japan. Played World of Darkness for a year in Japan and then started up a 3.0 D&D campaign (which gradually became updated to 3.5). Haven't played since I moved from Kochi to Hiroshima 3 months ago, and I'm jonesin' for a gaming fix. :)

Most of my regular players are 43+ and having been playing as a group every week for over 10 years. Right now I have two games I DM (1 Adult, 1 Teenagers) and 1 game I play in.

06-09-05, 02:28 PM I'm 23. Started playing 2nd around 15, played frequently until 18. Friends moved, college etc., and so didn't play for a few years. Got back into it with 3.5 about 7 or 8 months ago and after a rocky start (frequently saying where the hell did THAC0 go?!?!!) I am now DMing a regular campaign where the PC's have just became Level 3.

Back in the teen years I alternated between Playing and DMing. Since I've been playing 3.5, I've done nothing but DM :( . Oh well, beats not playing at all. Unfortunately it seems I am the only one of my new gaming group that is "suited" to DM... it's starting to grow on me though...

Now play 3.5, which i think will be last version for me (untill they go holographic or sumthin). Incidentally, we never play face to face anymore..for the last year and a half we have been playing online. My gaming group now uses Klooge and Dundjinni (for maps).

Started in: 3rd grade.
Started with: Basic DnD.
In my G&T class I met a couple brothers who got me into RPGs on the C64/128, then into DnD. Later on I got us all started on ADnD. Then I moved away :(
My next group was just hanging out at the Rec center of the local army base and joining any games that had an open spot. That and the guys I met by accidentally leaving my dice/pencil bag on my seat after english class.
Then I moved again. :( Much harder to find groups when you live 20 miles from the nearest town, but I managed.
Then I came down here to Boston and have had little trouble finding a group. My current group has 9 players and at least two others have asked to join. :o

Me, (funny thing) I got interested in D&D when I watched an episode of Dexter's Lab when I was little, they start playing a game of D&D in their kitchen... I laguhed

I started buying D&D around 1987 (red box), but began playing only in 1991 when I found a group, and switched to 2.0 AD&D. I still play mostly 2.0, I donėt play 3.0 often because most people now play 3.5 around here. I plan to quit when 4.0 comes out.

I'm 35. Started in '78 with the original 3 white booklets my next-door neighbors introduced me to. I can't remember a time after that point that I haven't played. I don't remember much before that. I owned the red box set, Still own the Original Deities & Demigods; the one with the Cthullu and Melnibonean Pantheons in it. Still own the Rules Cyclopedia and my 2e Player's Handbook & DMG (THAC0: The acronym which shall not be named, except this once, :P then never again). I like the d20 system best, despite the 2-year revision.

I know, Too much info. I just wanted to wax nostalgic.

Next is Book of Exalted Deeds (A freind has the Book of Vile Darkness so I need to crush him in a LG on CE 1 on 1), and then I'm gonna start investing in a campaign setting, most likly Fearun.

I started roleplaying in late 2000, although with Middle Earth and Star Wars d20. I started DnD 3rd Edition in 2003, and then 3.5 in 2004 to now. My friend's dad often GM's many different kinds of RPG's for us. But DnD is my favourite.

I gave it up for the next 8 years or so being busy with college and then grad school. Right about the time 3.5 came out, 3 of us from the old group found ourselves in the same area, started up again, and here we are.

Next is Book of Exalted Deeds (A freind has the Book of Vile Darkness so I need to crush him in a LG on CE 1 on 1), and then I'm gonna start investing in a campaign setting, most likly Fearun.
Winter Fallout 06-12-05, 09:43 AM	19, turning 20 in August. I started roleplaying in late 2000, although with Middle Earth and Star Wars d20. I started DnD 3rd Edition in 2003, and then 3.5 in 2004 to now. My friend's dad often GM's many different kinds of RPG's for us. But DnD is my favourite.
theimposter187 06-12-05, 12:23 PM	I'm 24 and I started playing when I was 11. 2nd edition was already out, but the group I joined was still playing basic dnd with the Rules Cyclopedia book. I joined a 2nd edition group about a year later.

I gave it up for the next 8 years or so being busy with college and then grad school. Right about the time 3.5 came out, 3 of us from the old group found ourselves in the same area, started up again, and here we are.
