| Izodor_Shadowcaster08-29-06, 04:06 AM | i think the alig. names need to change cheotic evil to pure evil and lawfull good to pure good I do not agree. LE is more evil than CE I think and I always thought CG was the "real" good. But why should we change the names? I am happy with them and we all now what we mean by them. |
| riceisnice08-29-06, 04:45 AM | No way, pure good and pure evil would be NG or NE, respectively. I guess by that token pure chaotic and pure lawful could replace CN and LN. But why do they need a name change anyway? |
| ForgottenDruid08-29-06, 06:20 AM | Isn't, like what riceisnice said, NG and NE really Pure good and pure evil? CG and CE, from my userstanding are borderline Good and Evil with some flaws? Maybe I'm wrong :embarrass |
| Carmath The Pure08-29-06, 06:44 AM | i think the alig. names need to change cheotic evil to pure evil and lawfull good to pure good I'll bite: why? Presumably you have a reason behind wanting this, but without telling us what that is I doubt you'll get much agreement in response. |
| coldfire_x08-29-06, 06:54 AM | just think it needed to be changed for 4.0 {i want to take part at 4.0} |
| Seeker9508-29-06, 09:23 AM | I disagree with the OP. If we change the names, folks will just say: I'm "Pure Evil". You know... Like "Neutral Evil" in the old naming system. |
| Morka08-29-06, 10:58 AM | Why not creating a third axis? Pure-Neutral-Stupid. It could fit for every 9 current alignments. Or while we are at this, Honor-Neutral-Dishonor. |
| Quixotico08-29-06, 01:00 PM | Why not creating a third axis? Because people are already confused enough with two axi. |
| Archangel_James08-29-06, 08:15 PM | If you're lawful, then you may think that LG is Pure Good, but I, being CG, think that LG is more like Misguided Good. And I don't think anyone will disagree that Evil can get more done quicker when it's LE. |
| Jezmund08-29-06, 08:41 PM | Not a chance. Good/Evil and Law/Chaos are great for describing a character. Good/Evil describe your character's actions or motivations, and Law/Chaos describe how your character goes about achieving his goals. It's often a difficult concept for players to grasp because we tend to associate law with justice and good, and chaos with evil or psychotic behavior. |
| Seeker9508-29-06, 09:15 PM | i think the alig. names need to changeLooks like the survey says: :noway: :nonono: :pbbbtt: :yuck: :thumbsdow |
| DarkNick08-29-06, 09:46 PM | I disagree too. For starters you confusing the Chaos/Law thing with good and evil. These are neither good nor evil. Chaos is no more evil than Law. Also I think there is a third scale in that there is a degree of evil or good, that is if you could quantify it. To clarify: a LE person may be more or less evil than another LE person. Can you say a LE person is as evil as Asmodeus? Probably not. Another way of looking at it is that a LG Paladin could be more good than a LG fighter. Might as well add in another scale within the good evil spectrum so that someone could be Lawful Pure Evil, or Lawful Evil with impurities ;), or Chaotic Angelic Good to Chaotic Tarnished Good. Perhaps the only true evil is to be Neutral...nature is evil - it does not care, its like pure green and brown, therfore it must be evil! Down with the fence sitters! Kill all centuars and druids! |
