05-28-07, 06:59 PM can anybody find the old 1e (or around there) alignment chart showing curves? (neutral was rather small, 'corner" alignements were sweeping)
The PHB containing it had various appendices, one of which involved the psionic system in conjunction with mental ability scores above 16 (or was that the DMG? w/e). The DMG or PHB for that edition also contained the bard class involving fighter/thief/druid.

05-30-07, 03:52 PM I'm guessing I found the right one, then! I'm curious. What did you need it for? Just for visualization?

05-30-07, 04:12 PM I suppose you could say so. I needed a physical reference to debate with my friend with, and I feared that anything I could draw would have inaccuracies (mostly why I should be allowed to play LE, with little emphasis on the E (near middle of graph))

05-30-07, 10:27 PM There was a bit of info along time ago on alignments that would let you play a character of one alignment with tendencies to a "nearby" alignment. Your character would be listed LE(LN) to indicate "Lawful Evil with Lawful Neutral tendencies". How it was played out was that if the PC wasn't very riled up about it (someone bumped into your shopping cart at Noddenberry's) your LE character wouldn't necessarily go about plotting some sick, twisted revenge. You cold just say "oops!" and let it go. (Of course, if they did a hit-and-run on your hippogriff and you reacted the same way, that would be out of alignment. And so would the hippogriff, depending on if they hit his legs...:)) As long as the alignment was one step away, you were good to go with some flexibility. I play Gromph Baenre as CE(CN), while Uffgart, our longest lived character is N(NG). I suppose if you wanted to play something really interesting (and schizophrenic) you could go LG(CE) for a real Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde!

You know......I really like that format/idea. That actually describes many of my characters better than just listing them as CN or LG or N or such.

05-31-07, 12:39 AM I think it was in the 2e. I don't recall seeing it in the 3e or the 1e, and it certainly wasn't in the Old School (real Old School, ca. 1974). I don't recall where I saw it, now that I pause to think about it. It may have even been an article in an old Dragon. I just know I read it, liked it, employed it and have never gone back.
