| Wildonion10-26-04, 08:10 AM | While searching for Turbine Entertainment's site for D&D online I found this: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/20001222b Alignment test, created by WoTC. I don't know how many of you know about it but enjoy! :D |
| Kiri Sittori10-26-04, 09:30 AM | Yeah, that's the alignment test from the Hero Builder's Guidebook, a splat book from the 3.0 days. |
| polipone10-26-04, 10:07 AM | I think this test is not very good for statistical reasons. Let me try to explain my point (sorry if I'm a bit long) The test works with three scores on the "good-versus-evil" axis and three on the "law-versus-chaos" axis. Let's speak about only one of these, e.g. the "good-versus-evil" axis; on the other axis the situation is the same. The test adds up three scores: "good", "neutral" and "evil". The "winner" is the score with the most points. Here we find a first problem: a mostly balanced score with a slight preference for good or evil is considered good or evil, where it should more correctly be considered neutral. Moreover, every question makes a choice between two of the possible alignments, and adds one point to one of these. Some, in particular, are "lesser-evil" questions: the "lesser evil" answer adds one point to "neutral", the other one adds one point to "evil". This can lead to paradoxical results. Let's suppose your score is high in "good" and "neutral", with "good" equal to "neutral" plus one. The "evil" score is low. You have two questions left, and these two are of the "lesser evil" type described above. If you choose the "lesser evil" response for both questions, you add 2 to your "neutral" score and are considered Neutral. If, on the other hand, you choose the true evil responses, you add 2 to your "evil" score and end up being Good. This doesn't make much sense to me. A better test would have used only 4 scores: "good", "evil", "lawful" and "chaotic", returning "neutral" on a given axis if the scores are tied or nearly tied. |
| green_yawgmoth10-26-04, 10:34 AM | Yes, but take in mind the disclaimer; no test is really going to give you a definitive answer, since there are only so many questions/answers to put on there. And those buggers still say I'm Chaotic Evil! :tantrum: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v91/yawgmoth/kittyjig.gif |
| simen_8810-28-04, 02:38 PM | Ah yes, the test that says I'm neutral good, not CG. Just because I give almost no lawful answers, and one or two neutral ones on the C/N questions. |
| StrahdVonZarovich10-28-04, 04:01 PM | What ?? How can I possibly be CG ?! I'm evil I say ! You heard me ! EVIL ! The Incarnation of evil, the very embodiment of the devil himself ! The - *is being carried away by men in white* Lemme go, I say ! I'm evil y'hear me ?! E-V-I-L !!! Mwouhaha!!! |
| Enalung10-28-04, 06:41 PM | LoL, that would make me a true neutral. It about fits the way I think and act. |
| BladeMage_110-28-04, 07:04 PM | ..................................... It appears I'm Chaotic Evil... I thought I was Chaotic Good??? oh, but this is not a bad thing..... |
| Wildonion10-28-04, 08:25 PM | I'm neutral Evil, take THAT Strahd! Bwa ha ha ha ha ha! :D |
| StrahdVonZarovich10-28-04, 08:54 PM | NO WAY ! NO WAY ! I am the most evil cold hearted bastard here, not you ! ARGHH this is so frustrating ! *Goes back to the test* ! |
| Vintar10-28-04, 10:23 PM | "Chaos, Death Destruction... my work here is done!" Guess what I am. |
| The_Dark_One10-28-04, 11:12 PM | I'm True Neutral. |
| Roman10-29-04, 12:45 AM | My alignment would be Lawful Neutral. This is actually pretty much in line with what I would have guessed before taking the test. |
| Cade Hedger10-29-04, 12:14 PM | Neutral Good... Looks like my tough guy with a heart of gold act is working... |
| Ma'ElKoth10-29-04, 01:02 PM | Wierd quiz for DnD characters. Where are the questions like: "An Orc horde is attacking your village. You have captured one of their scouts. He has vital information but refuses to talk. Do you: 1) Take him back to the village as a prisoner of war. 2) Trick him into talking. 3) Intimidate him into talking. 4) Give him to your CE friend, he'll get the job done. 5) Tie his :censored: hands to a tree, rip his :censored: open and begin :censored: his :censored: and :censored: :censored: until the :censored: talks. Well, maybe that last option would be too obvious. |
| Melpomene10-29-04, 09:17 PM | My goodness and lawfulness aside, I built my own for my players. I put a copy in the charicter development section... |
