| Dagda Mor01-19-07, 07:26 AM | I doubt I'm the only one who's ever heard or read a line of dialogue and thought to myself, "That captures the (CN/LG/etc.) outlook perfectly." What quotes have brought that on for you? Try to avoid generic funny/witty quotes that come up often. Here's an example... Lawful Evil "How many more innocents have to die, Olivia?" "There are no innocents, Julia, only the strong and the weak. One feeds off the other. Victory and defeat are political fictions controlled by the empire." "You mean by yourself?" "One and the same, child, one and the same." -Tribes: Vengeance |
| Kargush01-19-07, 07:59 AM | "There is no such thing as innocence, paladin. Merely varying degrees of guilt..." -Fallen Shadowbane Inquisitor to Paladin |
| Leo01-19-07, 08:31 AM | Lawfull neutral: "No rest. No mercy. No matter what." Neutral good: "I think little of the foes I've slain. But I'm haunted by the friends I've sent to die." —The Southern Paladin Lawfull good: "Believe in the ideal, not the idol." —Serra Neutral evil: "I will flay the skin from your flesh and the flesh from your bones and scrape your bones dry. And still you will not have suffered enough." —Greven il-Vec, to Gerrard Chaotic evil: "Why do you weep for the dead? I rejoice, for they have died for me." —Fallen angel, to Serra |
| Hakar_Kerarmor01-19-07, 10:24 AM | Neutral evil: "The Polito form is dead, insect. Are you afraid? What is it you fear? The end of your trivial existence? Whe-wh-wh-when the history of my glory is written, your species shall only be a footnote to my magnificence!" Neutral good: "The willow knows what the storm does not. That the power to endure harm outlives the power to inflict it." |
| pres_man01-19-07, 10:38 AM | Lawful Good: "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." - Martin Luther King, Jr. |
| Edymnion01-19-07, 10:44 AM | True Neutral: "Not my problem." |
| Daergal_the_Black01-19-07, 03:04 PM | True Neutral: "Not my problem." Or, "I don't care." Lawful Good: "With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right." Chaotic Neutral: "You're not the boss of me!" |
| Stormbrand01-19-07, 04:17 PM | Lawful Good - Better to do right and die than to do wrong and prosper! (Timespike) Only the guilty need fear me. Nuetral Good - Forgiveness is a gift freely given. "Tomorrow, I fight for justice and to avenge the family of that poor child, and you Derfel, shall find her a kitten." - Arthur Pendragon, Warlord Chronicles. Lawful/Good/Angry - Just being human doesn't get a monster off the hook. Lawful Evil - "He should have burned her! Nothing improves a woman's behaviour like a good burning.' Merlin the Politically Incorrect. Chaotic Evil - "Mercy? What a rediculous concept!" Nuetral Evil - Vai Victus! (woe to the vanquished/suffering to the conquered) |
| GraveDigger01-19-07, 04:29 PM | I think I've found my favorite thread! Ok so back on course. Neutral Evil "Louie, none are so like unto God as our selves, and as he kills indiscrimanetly, so, shall, we." Lestat from -Interview with the Vampire. |
| Daergal_the_Black01-19-07, 04:46 PM | I almost forgot: Mercy?! You want MERCY?!?!!! I'm CHAOTIC NEUTRAL!!!!!!" |
| Edymnion01-19-07, 07:59 PM | Mercy?! You want MERCY?!?!!! I'm CHAOTIC NEUTRAL!!!!!!"*sigh* Yet another person that thinks Chaotic Neutral = insanity. |
| Ace_of_Diamonds01-19-07, 08:01 PM | Chaotic Evil: "Why did I kill him, you ask? I felt like it." |
| Daergal_the_Black01-19-07, 08:30 PM | *sigh* Yet another person that thinks Chaotic Neutral = insanity. *sigh* It was a joke. From a short film called "Fear of Girls". Who would actually yell out "I'm Chaotic Neutral" in character? That would be worse than thinking CN = crazy. |
| denner01-19-07, 09:15 PM | Lawfull Evil There is no good, there is no evil, only flesh! - Hellraiser 3 |
| SunTzuWarmaster01-19-07, 10:11 PM | Chaotic Neutral (my second favorite next to chaotic good): http://www.sjtrek.com/trek/rules/ Rules of Aquisition Not my problem. Perhaps you could explain to me why I care? Chaotic Good I think I'll leave you here until the police arrive in the morning - Batman |
| General_Ridley01-19-07, 10:24 PM | "I have lived, and I have died. I have loved, and I have hated. I have created, and I have destroyed. I do not care anymore for it is all too transparent. Life, death, love, hate, destruction, and creation are all the same: means to an end. And I will take every advantage they can give me." Neutral Evil (Possibly True Neutral, or even Lawful Evil). |
| SirCaran01-19-07, 11:04 PM | sorry if i miss-quote i havent seen the movie in awhile "Evil will prevail, because good is dumb." -Dark Helmet, Spaceballs(I fyou havent figured it out) Chaotic (thats it just chaotic) |
| WhiteRaven81001-19-07, 11:04 PM | "I have lived, and I have died. I have loved, and I have created. I have created, and I have destroyed. I do not care anymore for it is all too transparent. Life, death, love, hate, destruction, and creation are all the same: means to an end. And I will take every advantage they can give me." Neutral Evil (Possibly True Neutral, or even Lawful Evil). Oh I'd say true neutral. Not simply N/N written on a character sheet. But an absolute balance in power's. |
| Nived01-19-07, 11:22 PM | In my opinion the ultimate example of Lawful Neutral. "I didn't kill my wife!" Harisson Ford "... I don't care." Tommy Lee Jones. The Fugitive. |
| General_Ridley01-19-07, 11:23 PM | sorry, I accidentally put created in twice. It's fixed now, but thanks. |
| Mecha_Pope01-19-07, 11:26 PM | Chaotic Neutral (Leaning twords evil) Davy Jones- But I wonder, Sparrow, can ya live with this? Can you condem an innocent mind, a friend, to a life time of servitude in your name while you roam free? Jack- (thinks for half a second) Yep, I'm good with it! Plain chaotic neutral Stephen: [laughs, speaking heavenward] Him? That can't be William Wallace. I'm prettier than this man. All right Father, I'll ask him. [To William] If I risk my neck for you, will I get a chance to kill Englishmen? Hamish: Is your father a ghost, or do you converse with the Almighty? Stephen: In order to find his equal, an Irishman is forced to talk to God. [Heavenward] Yes, Father. [To William and Hamish] The Almighty says don't change the subject, just answer the (Censored) question. Hamish: Mind your tongue. Campbell: Insane Irish. [Stephen pulls a sharpened stick and holds it to the throat of Campbell] Stephen: Smart enough to get a dagger past your guards, old man. William: That's my friend, Irishman. And the answer your question is yes - if you fight for me, you get to kill the English. Stephen: Excellent! Stephen is my name. I'm the most wanted man on my island. Except I'm not on my island of course. More's the pity. Hamish: Your island? You mean Ireland. Stephen: Yeah. It's mine. Hamish: You're a madman. Stephen: [laughs] I've come to the right place then. The Almighty tells me he can get me out of this mess, but he's pretty sure you're (censored) Lawful good "It is the duty of those who are strong to oppose any who would dare to threatan the weak." "Aribeth, even a Paladin has a heart" "My brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails; when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship... but it is not this day! An hour of wolves and shattered shields, when the Age of Men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!" "Perhaps what Drogan sought to teach you was that a Paladin is both valient and merciful" -I know. It’s all wrong. By rights we shouldn’t even be here. But we are. It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened. But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn’t. Because they were holding on to something -What are we holding on to, Sam -That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it’s worth fighting for You have bled with Wallace, now bleed with me. Chaotic evil - We will drive the machinery of war with the sword and the spear and the iron fist of the orcs. -As a baal spawn, do you ever experience and... violent thoughts? -All the time. In fact, I'm having several very good ones right now. You'd laugh if you could see them. Well, YOU wouldn't laugh... Neutral converting to good Robert Bruce, Sr.: I'm the one who's rotting but I think your face looks graver than mine. Son, we must have alliance with England to prevail here. You achieved that. You saved your family, increased your land. In time, you will have all the power in Scotland. Robert the Bruce: Lands, titles, men, power... nothing. Robert Bruce, Sr.: Nothing? Robert the Bruce: I have nothing. Men fight for me because if they do not, I throw them off my land and I starve their wives and children. Those men who bled the ground red at Falkirk fought for William Wallace. He fights for something that I never had. And I took it from him, when I betrayed him. I saw it in his face on the battlefield and it's tearing me apart. Robert Bruce, Sr.: All men betray. All lose heart. Robert the Bruce: I DON'T WANT TO LOSE HEART!!!. I want to believe as he does. I will never be on the wrong side again. Lawful Evil Who is this person that speaks to me as though I needed his advice? Not the archers. My scouts tell me their archers are miles away and no threat to us. Arrows cost money. Use up the Irish. Their dead cost nothing. Bring me Wallace. Alive if possible, dead... just as good. Prince Edward: You brought back the money, of course. Isabelle: No, I gave it to ease the suffering of the children of this war. Longshanks: Ha! That's what happens when you send a woman. Isabelle: Forgive me, sire. I thought that generosity might demonstrate your greatness to those you mean to rule. Longshanks: My greatness will be better demonstrated when Wallace returns to Scotland and finds his country in ashes. Longshanks: Archers. General: I beg your pardon, sire. Won't we hit our own troops? Longshanks: Yes, but we'll hit theirs as well. We have reserves. Attack. Chaotic good -Your heart is free. Have the courage to follow it. All sorts of alignments here.... Robert the Bruce: [after William is betrayed] Father! You (censored censored). Why? Why? Robert Bruce, Sr.: Longshanks required Wallace. So did our nobles. That was the prize of your crown. Robert the Bruce: Die! I want you to die. Robert Bruce, Sr.: Soon enough I'll be dead. And you'll be king. Robert the Bruce: I don't want anything from you. You're not a man, and you're not my father. Robert Bruce, Sr.: You are my son, and you have always known my mind. Robert the Bruce: You deceived me. Robert Bruce, Sr.: You let yourself be deceived. In your heart, you always knew what had to happen here. At last, you know what it means to hate. Now you're ready to be a king. Robert the Bruce: My hate will die ... with you. |

| Nived01-20-07, 12:40 AM | A conversation I just remembered between a LN Dwarf Cleric and a NG idealistic human fighter in one of my old games. "You know why I'm doing this?" Dwarf. "Because its the right thing to do?" human. "No because it's my responsibility." |
| Hakar_Kerarmor01-20-07, 01:01 AM | "Am I not Thanos?! Did I not butcher the woman who gave me birth, who force-fed me into this hell called life?! Is not the wake of my passing crimson with the blood of my enemies and allies alike?! Death is with me every second of the day! My every moment is spent in either dealing out death or worshipping it! So tell me, who under the stars is better suited than I to be Death's consort?" I'm thinking LE. |
| AesirRaven01-20-07, 03:05 AM | I'd like to offer a quote which presents a slightly different take on Lawful Good, if I may. The quote comes from one of my own characters. First, a bit of setup: Our party had been teleported halfway around the world by a traitorous archmage who was supposed to be sending us only a few hundred miles on an errand for the Queen. We arrived in a vast badlands next to a mountain range and were quickly set upon by a red dragon which slew two of the four members of the party outright. These two were replaced by a pair of natives -- a CG turncoat from an evil, domineering race of dragon-humans called the Drake, and my LG Bangaa monk (borrowing the race from Final Fantasy, but making them Large size). As an opportunity for roleplaying and allowing the players of the remaining two original PCs to get a handle on events themselves, they gave us an in-game accounting of the events that led them to this place. The Bangaa's reaction was swift and sure. "That guy deserves to die. Painfully." This drew a look of horror from the DM until the Bangaa continued: "Anyone who would send his enemies here, unprepared and unwitting, has inflicted one of the cruelest tortures I can think of upon them. Someone like that is beyond reasoning or redemption. He's a fiend clothed in flesh." Sometimes Lawful Good doesn't mean Lawful Nice. |
| JDubya01-20-07, 02:29 PM | Lawful Evil All hail the overlord! - Sealab 2021 Chaotic Good Robin Hood: I'll organize revolt, exact a death for a death, and I'll never rest until every Saxon in this shire can stand up free men and strike a blow for Richard and England. Prince John: Are you finished? Robin Hood: I'm only just beginning. From this night forward I'll use every means in my power to fight you! - The Adventures of Robin Hood Lawful Neutral If someone stands in the way of true justice, you simply walk up behind them and stab them in the heart. - Henri Ducard, Batman Begins Chaotic Neutral Nae king! | Nived01-20-07, 04:09 PM | A couple of quote from one of my favorite hero movies. The Magnificent Seven (and yes I know Seven Samurai is 'better' but I like my westerns darnit) Lawful Good. Chris: You forget one thing. We took a contract. Vin: It's sure not the kind any court would enforce. Chris: That's just the kind you've got to keep. And for the contrast, Chaotic Good Calvera: What I don't understand is why a man like you took the job in the first place, hmm? Why, huh? Chris: I wonder myself. Calvera: No, come on, come on, tell me why. Vin: It's like a fellow I once knew in El Paso. One day, he just took all his clothes off and jumped in a mess of cactus. I asked him that same question, "Why?" Calvera: And? Vin: He said, "It seemed to be a good idea at the time." |
| Templar_Prime01-20-07, 05:18 PM | Neutral/Chaotic Good conversing with Lawful Evil, from Serenity: The Operative: I'm sorry. If your quarry goes to ground, leave no ground to go to. You should have taken my offer. Or did you think none of this was your fault? Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: I don't murder children. The Operative: I do. If I have to. Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: Why? Do you even know why they sent you? The Operative: It's not my place to ask. I believe in something greater than myself. A better world. A world without sin. Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: So me and mine gotta lay down and die... so you can live in your better world? The Operative: I'm not going to live there. There's no place for me there... any more than there is for you. Malcolm... I'm a monster. What I do is evil. I have no illusions about it, but it must be done. Evolution of a character. Dinobot from Beast wars. LE to LG in 2 seasons. Dinobot: You slipped... to defeat you in such a manner would have been lacking in honor. I would not have earned the right to lead. I prefer to defeat my opponents the old-fashioned way... BRUTALLY! "To be... or not to be. That is the eternal question. These disks I hold; are they a record of what will be, or only of what may? For if the future is indeed immutably fortold... then my demise is but moments from the confirmation, for I... I could not live if not the master of my fate. But... if the future can be changed... if these disks record merely one path of all the myriad ways the cosmos might conform... then power is infinite, and yet still limited, for they can be used but once, and in that change be rendered fiction forevermore. I could destroy them! ...but... no. T'would be a coward's answer. I will know the truth instead... then! It will be either them or me that face oblivion." Optimus Primal: Well fought, my friend. You saved the valley. You saved the lives of those who live here, and those still to come. Dinobot: Then... there is nothing to regret... LG getting ****** off at LN (establishment, not so much the character) from Babylon 5 Sheridan, "And who decides that time? You? You put me in this position. You asked me to fight this damn war! Well, it's about time you let me fight it my way! How many people have already died fighting this war of yours, huh? How many more will die before you come down off that mountain and get involved? Ships, colonies, whole worlds are being destroyed out there, and you do nothing! How many more? How many more, Kosh? How many more dead before you're satisfied? Huh?" |

Vimes: "He killed Angua, doesn't that mean anything to you?" Carrot: "Yes.
