| celestialkin03-06-08, 10:09 AM | I am going off to finally buy the DVD set at BestBuy (a limited edition version :D), so I wanted to know what the consensus would be on their alignments. http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e189/Celestialdragon100/061227dandd-briggs.jpg http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e189/Celestialdragon100/dadgroup.jpg |
| Firaeki03-06-08, 10:14 AM | They're all Chaotic Neutral, its the only way. |
| Tisi03-06-08, 10:52 AM | They're all Chaotic Neutral, its the only way. It's true. Even though Eric should have been LG, based on his class.* *Even though a Cavalier isn't ALWAYS lawful, I feel that they're harder to play when they're not, since they're almost always in service to someone and they typically place honor above all else. |
| Seeker9503-06-08, 10:54 AM | Uni is a unicorn. Lawful Good in some editions. Chaotic Good in others. Inherently. Bobby is brash and impetuous but good hearted. Chaotic Good. Sheila was good, pure and true. Neutral Good. Presto was Neutral Good too, but more as a default good than an intentional good. Diana was Lawful Good, although people might instinctively guess Chaotic. She acted with intention and willful precision and planning. Eric was Neutral. He wanted to be bad, and was good when required. Neither law nor chaos governed his method. Hank is the most difficult (with Diana second). He is stereotypically cast as Lawful Good, but demonstrated little respect for "the way things should be done" and was willing to break the rules to accomplish the objective. I would rule him as Chaotic Good. His Leadership ranks were lacking, despite his being the leader. :D |
| Zombie_Babies03-06-08, 12:02 PM | No real thoughts on the alignments, just a suggestion. When you watch these, keep in mind that they were made some time ago. Also remember that some things don't make sense (a Cavalier with a shield but no sword- ugh). If you don't, watching these can get .... well .... painful. If it's for nostalgia's sake then your all good, though. :D My group of friends has an idea about older TV shows. Some are always good (A-Team) and some are best left in your memories (MacGyver). IMO, this cartoon is of the latter variety. Of course, a friend of mine disagrees vehemently. In any case, I hope you enjoy them and find the answers to your alignment question. :) |

It just fits me very well. |

| Mock2603-06-08, 12:31 PM | Hank: LG Eric: NG Diana: LG Presto: NG Sheila: NG Bobby: CG Uni: LG Venger: NE |
| Tisi03-06-08, 01:17 PM | Why exactly? Why exactly what? To which part? "It's true?" I said it was true because they do seem to all act pretty chaotic, each episode I watched (which, admittedly, was not too frequent). The "good" part of the alignment seemed pretty accurate, since protagonists in cartoons tend to be good aligned at the least. "Eric should be lawful good" seemed pretty well-explained in that post, to me.. Not meaning to sound like "a cavalier should be played this way" or anything, but that's just how I would play one, based off of the information given to describe the class. |
| Seeker9503-06-08, 01:53 PM | Nice and very detailed as always Seeker95. However, you forgot a few characters. Both Venger and Dungeon Master were Neutral Evil. Venger wore it on his sleeve. Dungeon Master hid it under his robe. Think about it. He captures five kids and a unicorn, pits them against his conquer-the-world son, a schizophrenic hydra and any number of sources of all powerful evil, all the while tempting them with empty promises of returning home, only to mention at the last minute that the method had a time limit or a stipulation or a catch-22 that he forgot to tell them about. Sadistic bastard. |

Sadistic bastard. Considering that Wizards of the Coast never statted out Dungeon Master I would argue that he has no Alignment. |
| Belkar03-06-08, 02:19 PM | When you buy it - you'll actually have the alignments of the characters. The box set has a "mini 3.5 D&D book" inside that stats out the characters and their gear, Venger, and even inlcudes rules for a quick 3.5 game with them. Their alignments will be there in the stat blocks. |

| Gryffydd03-06-08, 03:46 PM | I think it's fair to say they're all Chaotic Stupid. At least IMHO. Also, I'd rather watch MacGyver than the A-Team any day. At least MacGyver doesn't fire 1000 rounds out of a full auto weapon without ever hitting a single person in every episode... |
| Zombie_Babies03-06-08, 03:51 PM | I Also, I'd rather watch MacGyver than the A-Team any day. At least MacGyver doesn't fire 1000 rounds out of a full auto weapon without ever hitting a single person in every episode... Well, he also has a mullet lest we forget. Score one for the A-Team! :D Believe it or not, there is an episode where someone actually dies. He was a game warden in Africa and was killed by poachers. I couldn't believe it when I saw that one! But, yeah. They never hit anything. I did honestly try my hardest to rewatch Mac. Just couldn't do it. A-Team was great, though. At least Mac got "reincarnated" as Jack O'Neal. SG1 pwnt! |
| Tisi03-06-08, 03:53 PM | Don't diss the MacGyver mullet. That's where his powers lie. XD |
| Seeker9503-06-08, 05:02 PM | I'd rather watch MacGyver than the A-Team any day. At least MacGyver doesn't fire 1000 rounds out of a full auto weapon without ever hitting a single person in every episode...The A-Team was allowed on the air in the prime time slot under the condition that they never kill someone. |
| Mock2603-06-08, 06:27 PM | The A-Team was allowed on the air in the prime time slot under the condition that they never kill someone. And because of the no-killing "clause" it was a family show that was pretty much safe for nearly all age groups to watch. |
| sakuradm03-06-08, 06:39 PM | no thaught on alignments... Err.. I've watched tid-bits and get headaches every time.... xD I'm pretty sure the party would come across gold with which to buy better armour for example. Also, as mentioned above... a shield yet no sword???? Its basically suicidical! I'd much rather have a shortsword and no shield rather than a shield and no sword at all! :P These kids have no sense man!.... A-TEAM= a bunch of crazy soldiers of fortune with automatic rifles that arent allowed to kill??? WTF????? McGyver= AWESOME!!!! he can make a bomb out of sodium! a lock pick out of the bits of a lightbulb! (which is possible by the way...or you can always use the good old bobbypin :D).... Yes yes... I am not a fan of 80s stuff... more a fan of the vietnam war era and the 60s and 70s myself.... but hey.. I just HAD to say something on here ^_^ |
| Werral03-06-08, 07:01 PM | Both Venger and Dungeon Master were Neutral Evil. Venger wore it on his sleeve. Dungeon Master hid it under his robe. Think about it. Sadistic bastard. Typical DM |
| Ariakus03-08-08, 12:40 AM | It was, beyond a shadow of a doubt...THE best D&D sh*t to hit the market! MacGiver spawned from this...he had to, that was the way of the adventurer! It wasn't laid out like it is today This created the Survival check.... |
| Drackthor03-08-08, 01:31 AM | It's a cartoon show with an 8-year old Barbarian. The main villain is like, Chaotic Good at worst. |
| Drackthor03-08-08, 01:38 AM | Also, as mentioned above... a shield yet no sword???? Its basically suicidical! Captain America begs to differ. |
| sakuradm03-08-08, 10:18 AM | ah.. but he can basically use magic -.- super hero =awsome super powers... a young boy in a breastplate with a small metal sheild... errr... well hmm... would you like to take a shield or a sword into a fight? |
| Tisi03-08-08, 10:28 AM | But Captain America's shield doubles as a weapon, while Eric's shield is just like... a shield. It's not a super-cool boomerang shield like Captain America's :P |
| celestialkin03-08-08, 10:55 AM | But Captain America's shield doubles as a weapon, while Eric's shield is just like... a shield. It's not a super-cool boomerang shield like Captain America's :P Well, it is magically indestructible. |
| Seeker9503-08-08, 02:48 PM | Well, it is magically indestructible. And, as needed on an episode-by-episode basis, was capable of: absorbing magic and/or energy attacks reflecting magic and/or energy attacks creating a force bubble resisting extreme heat humming with power glowing in the dark serving as a sled, boogie board, and umbrella |
| Tisi03-09-08, 10:50 AM | Good point, Seeker. Like I said, I didn't watch too much of that show (it's sometimes on Boomerang, but it's always the same couple of episodes). I also had to look up what you said about Unicorns being CG (I didn't do it sooner due to absentmindedness). Was that a 3.x addition? I remember Unicorns being LG, but my 3.5 PHB says CG. |
| Seeker9503-09-08, 01:53 PM | Was that a 3.x addition? I remember Unicorns being LG, but my 3.5 PHB says CG.Yup. I guess 3e designers felt that the unicorn was far too free to be lawful. :D |
| Tisi03-09-08, 02:07 PM | Huh. Oh well, just another thing to get used to :) I also thought elves were NG (since they put Drow as NE and I thought they were CE, I'm getting really confused).. did they mess with a bunch of the alignments and shift them or am I just plain wrong? |
| The_Shaman03-09-08, 03:28 PM | No, I think they've long been chaotic good. It's somewhat of a cliche, even, about elves being CG and dwarves LG - even though I think some elven subraces, like Sun Elves on Faerun, are much more likely to be LG or LN than anything else. |
