I just made a set of character sheets... kinda. Most of it is copypasta, enough that I just left the WotC copyright bit on it. I'd like to post it somewhere ('cause it took too long for just me to use ;) ). Is that legal?

If so, where and how could I post it? I can't make PDF's.

It's likely you can't post it on this site. I don't believe it is illegal. (Even if it is, it's not practical to prosecute)

I am aware of some [unnamed non-specific internet resources] that do exactly what you are doing. With a little looking around, it won't be very hard to find a suitable place to post your sheet.

...And .PDF is not the ONLY file format practical for sheets. Don't worry too much if you can't make them.

I can't make PDF's.Character sheets are far from illegal - assuming only that you don't make use of licensed images, or information not intended to be freely available to the public (for example, the experience point level chart). They are otherwise exceptionally common, even to some degree encouraged. There are character sheets of ALL kinds available all over the internet. MS-Word versions, PDFs, Excel spreadsheet versions, simple ones, complex ones, heavy graphics, or just cut/paste from other locations. Ema's and Mad Irishman's are popular. www.rpgsheets.com probably has several hundred for D&D.

No need to bother with the copyright. Post it anywhere you like that people can get access to it. And the form you put it in will both expand and limit who will want to use it. Not everyone wants just a PDF. Some want an EDITABLE PDF. Some prefer Excel spreadsheets that do a lot of the calculations. Some want a nice, graphical look appropriate to the campaign they're in. Some don't care waht the format is as long as there is a place for EVERYTHING possible using any supplement ever published.

I used to do all my own character sheet designing using anything and everything from typewriters, to Word, to CAD software. With 3rd Edition there wound up being too many people who made it a hobby in and of itself that did much better work than I could ever hope to. My own preference is Mad Irishmans Old School/Necromancer Games/Judges Guild designs.

You shouldn't need another program to make a PDF from a .odt file. You made this file using Open Office right? Just select "export PDF" in the file menu.

Hmmm, totally missed that. (:embarrass )

...Can I change the file itself at rpgsheets? I have the edit option, but I can't seem to swap out the actual file.
