I am going to run a campaing where all the players are dwarves, and the Wu Jen looks like it could make a good player class but the name is not so good for the setting. Does anyone have a more Dwarven alternative for Wu Jen (the name not the concept) ?

For a name, I'm not very original, so I'm just going to make up something generically dwarfy-sounding: Ghâzad-Múrdul. Anyway, though, the name isn't great, but I have some ideas for the concept: it could go back to the idea that dwarves don't like arcane magic, so dwarf "wizards" were kind of outcasts (hence the "any non-lawful" alignment restriction) and they learned their own slightly odd variant of wizardry since they had to develop it under the disapproval of dwarf society, isolation from other schools of arcane magic, etc. They form their own tradition, but the need to hide themselves during the periods in which dwarves were intolerant of arcane magic caused them to develop subtle secret rituals to signal to each other that they're Ghâzad-Múrdul without alerting "mainstream" dwarves -- which eventually evolved into taboos, hence the Wu Jen taboos.
