I would like to use some of the ideas behind 'Taint' (from both this book, and OA I guess) but I don't really want to introduce an entirely new mechanic to my campaign at this stage. I was wondering if anyone could suggest alternative methods for simulating the effectsof Taint, without actually introduceing Taint points and all that. Specifically, I like the idea of a slow corruption which creeps in if you spend too much time in an area, and I would also like to use the Taint Elemental. But, the main threat of the Taint Elemental is its ability to dish out Taint points. So, can anyone think of aternative ways to simulate the same types of effects in a more controled way, with out requireing more numbers to be kept track of, and the constant need for restoration spells? Thanks Thrushfeather |

Stat penalties would clash with taint effects, for example. I don't really see how one new value is going to cause problems at your table. It's less complicated than someone buying a secondary weapon. |

It's also not very hard to keep track of. I don't see a problem with using it as it is. Introducing it could be handled as a different kind of Evil; and intangible but existential one. It doesn't have to be everywhere, so you could treat it like radiation. |
