| thealexbeast02-04-04, 05:05 PM | i have this dream of creating this ultimate necromancer who tries to take over the world with an army of skeletons. however the rules prevent this from happening. is there any way to get around the hit die limit of skeletons. i was thinking that maybe there is a magic item out there that will alow me to stretch the hit die limit enough to allow an army. or could i possibly put some sort of intelegent undead creatures in comand so that all i have to do is create them. |
| Seeker9502-04-04, 05:12 PM | 1. Be a Cleric Necromancer. 2. Take the Leadership Feat. 3. Have Wizard Necromancers as your Cohorts. 4. Make sure each cohort has the Leadership Feat. 5. Have each cohort take Wizard Necromancers as Cohorts. 6. Be leader of an organization. 7. Probably be in an epic campaign. |
| SnowbearK02-05-04, 03:39 AM | epic feats allow a lot greater number of undead to be controlled. |
| JRidden02-05-04, 03:54 AM | 1.You yourself create several Lich (Or resurrent Lord Sith), at least try your best to find some demon lord 2. The lich will have some followers (spawn) 3.Control the lich ^v^ |
| DarkSoldier02-05-04, 04:21 AM | Use the old-fashioned method of create undead and create greater undead to create enough HD of spawning undead that you can control them (the created undead, not the spawned). Let your controlled undead create spawn, and if those spawn can spawn, let them. Eventually, you'll have a huge hierarchy of rotting flesh. It's possible to take the organization out by taking out your immediately-controlled undead, but their spawn will run amuck without their control. I love this tactic. |
| Everach02-05-04, 09:45 AM | You don't need to control every skeleton to have it be an army. Create a horde of undead, take the few under your control and have them start leading in a direction. The rest are likely to follow. |
| jasper02-05-04, 10:08 AM | You say you can only contol 12 skeletons, 3 zombies, and weak vampire. You say you are tired of Bucky the Wonder Paladin vaping the vamp, rezoneing the zombies , and scattering the skeletons. Then pounding your head into the pavement. For 6 easy payments of 29 gp 95 cp we will send you the book of dead. Learn the easy skeleton stocks tips. (How to create 1d100 of boners) Learn zombie zuper zones. (Create 1d100 of zombies) learn to up grade you wacky vamps. Wait that is not all. Order in the next twenty minutes we will include your first batch of chemicals for that quick Cheeta Zombie growth. wait that is not all. Order in the next twenties we will make a payment for you. That is now 5 easy payments of 29 gp 95 cp. Call 1-666-666-666 now. Note Book of Dead may not be shipped to all planes. Some Kingdoms don't allow COD (Cash or Death) delivery. Spells or chemicals may be hazardous to your health (or soul). Improper use of the book may attract prickly paladins. If rashes of death occurs please consult your family cleric. Just create a magic book which allows the user to create tailsmans, etc to control undead armies. The one I used allowed user to control 30 * level of one hit dice monsters. And if user tossed into vat a npc/pc that character level gave a chance of getting a higher level undead. I think my chart was 01-60 skeleton or zombie, 61-70 ghoul ghast, or monster zombie, 71-90 don't remeber. 91+ vampire. For every level above 1st add 10% to dice roll. |
| Tzor02-05-04, 11:20 AM | I don't want to rain onyour parade, or ruin your fantasy, but wny skeletons? Every movie I see has the hero facing a scores of them without dying. Their low hit points make for great canon fodder but otherwise very inefficient armies. You want the advanced low level BORG like undead. Ghouls already have a motivation to kill, so you don't need to control them. As the old RONCO informercial goes ... Just set them and ... Forget them! Of course there is the problem that replacements don't go "online" until the next midnight ... a minor problem. Plus the fact that not all the enemy gets turned into ghouls. The next level is Wights. They replicate better than ghouls, but they need motivation. While they don't have to be commanded like the more primitive skeletons and zombies, they are also smart enough to not always go into senseless killing sprees like ghouls. In both cases, a small group of minor undead could be used to herd the higher undead towards the enemy. |

| Grayson02-07-04, 04:46 PM | Psst.. it's your campaign, not the rulebooks ;) If you want NecromancerX to control a few bajillion skeletons, then let 'im! Or, perhaps when he was a child, he found this neat little stick with a skull on it... thankfully, he kept it around, and it turned out to be a Stick of Controlling a Bajillion Skeletons. I agree with the folks above though - beef up some of his forces with non-skeletons. Or at least have some of them be bigger skeletons ;) |
