I imagine if so, I would calculate the appropriate GP cost, but what should I use as the caster level variable in the GP cost calculation? |

This will both keep your item from casting spells that you couldn't normally and will help limit the costs down if you have a spell that you don't want to improve. For instance at 5th level one might put Dispel Magic as a 5th level caster once per day into the item for a cost of 5400 GP. At 6th level he might improve that to 6th level caster raising the "price" to 6480 GP. At 7th level he just leaves the caster level static at 6th and improves the relic another way. At 11th level he may choose to stop raising alltogether, since Dispel Magic doesn't get much better beyond that point an might instead make the relic Dispel Magic as 10th level caster 3/day, for a cost of 32400. This could get quite powerful if carried to it's logical conclusion, i.e. Dispel Magic at will as a 10th level caster for 60,000 gp.... |
