| Amaril03-30-05, 10:11 PM | Are there any DMs or players out there that have had a hard time with the 1day/1,000gp rule for Ancestral Relic? One of my players has this feat, which I encourage for his character who is a Paladin of Heironeous interested in becoming an Anointed Knight. I'm running Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil, which involves a lot of dungeon crawling and has an element of timeliness to it so there's really not a whole lot of opportunity for him to run off to a temple for days to enhance his weapon. |
| Kyuketsukiouji03-31-05, 01:47 PM | Not really. It's the same rule for any item creation feat, so I don't see why it should be an exception. Yes, it does mean a character in a time-constrained scenario will not be able to make use of it, but it's the same thing for a wizard and his spellbook, too. The nature of the campaign is causing this particular problem, not the Ancestral Relic feat. |

I never made that comparison to item creation as obvious as it is. Thanks for pointing that out. The nature of the campaign is causing this particular problem, not the Ancestral Relic feat. I wholly agree; I'm just trying to find a solution that doesn't break things. But then again, why give this feat an advantage over Craft Magic Arms and Armor? Thanks for the feedback. |
| Amaril04-14-05, 12:11 AM | So I have another question regarding the Ancestral Relic feat. How are the items actually sacrificed? Are they just placed in a pile and then they dissappear after the character prays for 8 hours? Are they donated to the temple? What exactly does it entail? As of right now, I'm having stuff just "dissappear" after the ritual is performed. |

| Dunelord04-14-05, 11:59 PM | It is 1/25 the cost in XP, not half but kem does have a point. |

So for a +2 Sword its 8000gp. 4000 Gold to make (1/2 the gold cost) 320xp to replace the 4000gp you aren't paying. I have always thought of the creating feats as a method to spend xp to save money :) I still take Anscetral Relic every chance I get. Its that or item familiar (which I like more because I don't have to be good to take it) |
