So, lots of people on here have been asking about the big-name characters like Leonidas (or Spartans, generally), Riddick, et. etc. Well, I have a character I'd like to create too, but he's not such a "big-name" guy.

For those of you who have seen King Arthur (with Clive Owen), one of the knights is Tristan. He carries a scimitar and has a pet hawk. I'd like to create a character like him. What would his class be? What skills and feats, etc.?

Ranger, to put it simply, Or you could be a fighter, take leadership at 6th level and have a hawk cohort.

Compared to the power of D&D characters, I wouldn't put any of the Knights of the Round Table (or Arthur himself) above 4th or 5th level at most.

Same for the Fellowship of the Ring.

In mainland Europe, Tristan is their version of Sir Lancelot. IE, he's more famous and well known as the medieval paladin-guy archetype. The similarities between the story of the Round Table and the story of Tristan's king (can't remember his name) are strikingly similar, despite both being present within at least one single work; Le Mort de Artur.

As to Tristan's class, I don't bother attempting to attach d&d mechanics to any figure that exists outside of the game. Make him whatever class/es you want, becuase any build can be argued as appropriate for him. (and folks will argue about it, sadly, if this thread goes on for long)

Ranger with archery focus, remember how he shot the guy in the tree at the end.

Tristan was probably the combat ranger varient from Complete Warrior, maybe trading a special ability from there to keep the hawk companion. Combat Style of archery, most of his feats went into melee fighting, though.

And pretty much all the knights have far shot. When that woman said "They're too far away", and the knights decided to prove her wrong.

And, if I remember right, the king's name was Mark.
