| Verasana_33105-27-07, 03:34 AM | So we had the first session on Friday. Only three of the five players showed up, which was kind of disappointing, but they missed out on the opening ceremony. To comemorate the session, we had four kinds of pizza, two kinds of wings, Mountain Dew and italian ice for dessert. Three of the four basic foods from the D&D food group. I didn't have my map so I had to use "Heroscape" pieces. It turned out to be better then planned and the different terrains worked out really well. They all traveled from Waterdeep to a ruin in the forest. I had them placed in different areas of the city so they all came from different directions. Sir Gebnith the Cleric of St. Cuthbert(who was suppose to be with another cleric) came from the Northeast, Galian the Shadowcaster came from the Southwest( he was to travel with a warlock), and Salamandra the Fey'ri traveled with the NPC, the Weaponsmaster Feldgar from the South. Felgar is Salamandra's reluctant bodyguard. He hates his job. Salamandra cares only for herself and mischief. She causes lots of trouble and never takes the blame. The player has chosen to model her after socialite Paris Hilton. We all laughed at that. I thought that deserved a little reward of XP. When they encountered each other it was a disaster. Feldgar and Salamandra were too busy fighting to say hello(they sound like a married couple)and Galian took offense to this. Sir Gebnith thought he was in danger of a demon attack and charged her. Galian saw this and casted "Clinging Darkness"(Ref-DC 17). Feldgar and Salamandra avoided easily and kept arguing. Sir Gebnith got caught and was cursing a blue streak at Galian to release him! Suddenly they all heard a booming voice in their heads and Galian dispelled the spell. They all headed into the ruin and tried to listen to the to mage like people that held their quest, but Salamandra kept interrupting with stupid comments about their robes and hair. She nearly got fried by the one with a sinister grin. She finally shut up and all was revealed. "A rare Shadowchild that was born of two other Shadowelves has reached the age of consent. She is looking for a mate willing or not to have a child with. She has taken and been willingly taken by many males, but has produced no heirs and has slautered them all as punishment. The carnage has been so brutal along with her temprament thet it has attracted two very powerful and dangerous beings, if you can call them that. The Demon Prince Gra'zzt, 2nd most powerful demon in the underworld and The Arch Devil Dispater, ruler of the 8th level of the Nine Hells. This is a coupling that very few want to take place, both good and evil. We have been sent by both sides to set you on the path to stop this abomitnation from ever being created. We will fill you in with more details come morning. Now rest for you will begin a long journey shortly after daybreak." Leaving the four completely speechless they vanished into a portal. Another flash of light and a full camp appeared in the ruins for the four. Everyone's mouth was hanging open in game and in real life. End Session The group applauded at the revolution of the plot. NO one expected such shock like that. They all said that the others missed a great opening and a great session. We cleaned up and finished dessert and I saw everyone out. I am so glad they enjoyed it and can't wait two weeks for the next session. Please feel free to comment about the session and the players choice of characters. The scene opens with the characters trying to collect themselves with the news they have just heard. Some go and check out the campsite while others see to the food that was left. The Fey'ri Salamandra still acting like Paris Hilton takes one look at the accommidations and states she is not sleeping in that poor excuse for a tent. She also turns up her nose at the horrid looking piece of flesh roasting on the spit. I had her roll a wisdom check and with a 19 she recalled that when she was with her kind she ate raw flesh that still was warm and slept on the ground in mud and rain. She can't believe how far she's come. She signs and crawls into the tent to sleep. The NPC dwarf Felgar after gorging himself lets out a loud belch and does the same. After praying the cleric Sir Gebnith also tuns in leaving the Shadow Mage Galian to contimplate what he has just witnessed. The night is uneventful. In the morning the tents disappear and more food apperars on the spit. While Felgar eats again everyone else has noticed that the two mysterious hosts have returned. Sir Gebnith and Salamandraboth notice that they are on edge . The two try and usher the party on their way. Sir Gebnith needs no more incentive and begins to leave the fortress. Galian begins to notice that both men can not speak at the same time. He also notices a strange similarity in them. He begins to conclude they are one person. Just as he is about to reveal this, a hideous green quazzit named Raspril appears in their midst. He is a vile creature with a wretched stench that makes them all vomit or dry heave(all player failed fort saves). He speaks about his master, but doesn't reveal who it is. When the hosts try and declare who he is they are wracked with pain and suffer an agonizing death. Galian tries to attack Raspril, but with a temp -2 for attack and saving vs fort he fails. Salamandra tries to charm the creature, but she too can't get over the nausa he instills. At one point she makes a comment about his prowness and he leers at her and offers her a gift from his mouth of a decaying piece of meat. She vomits and then Galian also does when he watches the creature swallow it again. Raspril disappears with a manical laugh and a wink to the fey'ri. Sir Gebnith calls from outside the walls and everyone rushes to see an undead army composed of a ghastl, two large zombies, two ghouls, a wraith, and an allip. End Session This week was a little short because the characters spent a lot of time getting to know each other. Everyone earned extra XP for playing their characters personality quite well. I was most impressed. Next game in two weeks. June 1st. All players were FINALLY at the game last night so the real fun began. Babs feeling guilty for missing two games in a row for selfish reasons sacrificed her dignity and said she was rolling in catnip(her character is feline)and got too high. I went with this so now she is a borderline addict recreational user of catnip. This giving her +2 charisma, -2 dexterity and wisdom for 1d4 hours everytime she smokes one joint. Afterwards she is lethargic for 1-2 hours(even or odd roll on 1d6). If she smokes more then three times in 24 hours she has to make a will DC 15 or become addicted. Not a bad punishment and better then flogging...well almost. Gypsum and Jax arrive from Waterdeep at the same time. They nod to each other. Jax is talking about the stuff she bought and Gypsum is apologizing for her tardiness when they are both hit with a horrible stench(fort DC 25)and begin to vomit from the smell. They both detect the unmistakable oder of a foul evil creature. They look through teary eyes and see a site. Jax sees her partner Galian standing in a circle staring at a pile of ashes with a demon next to him. Gypsumsees the same, but doesn't know anyone there. Assuming the demon is the evil they smell they run into the ruins. Jax races to her friends aid and Gypsum frantically looks for Sir Gebnith. She yells, "Stay back foul beast!" To the demon, who is Salamandra. Galian seeing this tries to cast a spell to stop her charge forgetting that magic doesn't work here. He gets another pounding headache. Salamanrda tries to explain who she is when Jax over hears someone outside call for aid. :duel:Order Of Initative:duel: Salamandra: 21 Wight: 21 Galian: 18 Sir Gebnith: 18 Gypsum: 16 Zombie x2: 15 Ghoul x2: 15 Ghast: 13 Allip: 7 Jax: 3 :fight!: Battle Begins :fight!: Salamandra runs to the back entrance and sees Sir Gebnith standing before an army of undead creatures. The army leader, a wicked looking wight, points at Sir Gebnith and taunts him with a cry of death. Galian tries to run over the bridge past Sir Gebnith(bull rush-Str check vs Sir Gebnith)and falls into the water(fails Init. drops below Sir Gebnith). Sir Gebnith lets out a dwarven shout and turns zombies and ghouls into dust. Allip runs away in fear. Sir Gebnith steps to ghast unafraid. Gypsum runs out, but is too far away to do anything yet. Ghast lets out horrible stench(fort DC 14)but Sir Gebnith is unaffected. Ghast bites Sir Gebniths shoulder(8 pts damage and fort DC 14). Sir Gebnith never fliches. Jax runs onto the bridge. Salamadra flies over the wight and blasts it with "Energy Beam"(1 pt damage). Wight laughs and says, "That tickled, can I tickle you too?" Wight slams Salamandra(3 pts damage and fort DC 14)Salamandra is thrown back, but looks ok. Sir Gebnith growls at ghast, "Quit drooling on me you foul beast!" Crushes ghast with heavy mace +1 disruption (12 pts damage and fort DC 14) and practically destroys it! Galian gets up and casts "Clinging Darkness" on wight and Salamandra(will DC 17)Salamandra is tangled, wight escapes. Gypsum begins to cast "Summon Monster I". Jax casts "Eldrich Blast" at wight(8 pts damage). Salamandra tries to break free. Wight attacks and misses. Sir Gebnith still losing it continues to pound ghast into dust and muck. Galian dispells "Clinging Darkness" on Salamandra. Gypsum finishes spell, but instead of celestial dog, a hound archon appears(plot point). Hound leaps at wight slashing it with greatsword(12 pts damage)and cleaving it in two. :bravo: Battle Over :bravo: Sir Gebnith is still hitting already "dead" ghast when Arapid( G.NPC) appears in front of him. Sir Gebnith takes a wild swing at them, but is stopped by the good half of Arapid. They tell him to calm down and breathe. Covered in ichor and sweat Sir Gebnith relaxes. Galian says, " Wait weren't you just killed by the quazzit(Raspril)(E.NPC)?" "It was an illusion to make it leave." Arapid asks Sir Gebnith to look through the remains of ghast(search DC 14). He finds a broken holy symbol of the undead god Nerull(background for Sir Gebnith). Sir Gebnith lets out a cry of anguish as Arapid tells him that besides the Demon prince Grazz't and the Devil Dispater, a disciple under the orders of Nerull is also seeking a coupling with the "Shadowchild". Sir Gebnith falls to his knees pounding the ground. Aripid declares Gypsum party leader because she was able to summon an hound (12 pts damage).(although they know Sir Gebnith would be better he is too focused on his own crusade). Sir Gebnith asks Gypsum what they should do next. Gypsum puts it to a party vote. Salamandra suggests that they go looking for the "Shadowchild" and kill her before the others get there. All agree. She also remembers that a seer is in Waterdeep who can possibly direct them. everyone agrees again and they turn to Waterdeep. Salamandra stays in the back and rumages through the wights remains looking for treasure. She finds a gold holy symbol encrusted with rubies. The symbol radiates evil vibes. She wraps it tightly in cloth to quell the vibes and hides it in her bag. She joins the others not knowing that the holy symbol is a scrying tool and now she is in danger of being watched. Experienced Earned  Everyone: 1500-For showing up to game. 2700{5}=450-For monster encounter. :w00t: Sir Gebnith: 50-For roleplaying cleric properly and character. :w00t:Salamadra: 50-For unique party ideas and roleplaying character. :w00t:Gypsum: 25-For roleplaying pacifist charcter. :w00t:Jax: 25-For roleplaying warlock properly. Galian: -25 For forgetting about not being able to cast spells in ruins after three other attempts. 25-For roleplaying shadow mage properly. |
