| Orayn, Elvish Blademaster08-01-06, 11:24 PM | My school has a Tactical Games club, and I'm planning to introduce DnD to it. Last year, we used a classless system with a lot of D20 elements for combat, but little else. This yera, I was to introduce a slimmed-down version of DnD for a new campaign. It has to be relatively simple, so players with little-to-no RPG experience can get into it. Any suggestions on how to slim down DnD for such a purpose? What to take out, what to leave, what to repackage into something else, etc. |
| TrackStar08-01-06, 11:26 PM | Simple, only use the DMG and the PHB |
| Tempest Stormwind08-01-06, 11:40 PM | Have you considered D&D Basic? |
| Insane Pixie08-01-06, 11:53 PM | Use only the Core material, and let each player pick one splat book that he can use. Whether players can use each other's chosen book is up to you. |
| a_psh08-01-06, 11:56 PM | I've heard good things about the mechanics in True20. D&D at low levels tends to be fairly straightforward, too, though. |
| Manic Man08-02-06, 12:25 AM | I would recomend Dragon Warriors, a very old but simple system, rather than D&D. |
| Wyrmul08-02-06, 12:50 AM | Use SRD rules or True20. True20 is a pared down version of d20 that I have used a little in low/no magic games. |
| Apollo's Will08-02-06, 01:03 AM | I agree with Tempest Stormwind: Take a look at the D&D Basic Game (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=products/dndacc/966470000). An excellent way to introduce new players to D&D and the d20 system (and you get some cool fully painted miniatures and maps to show off as well :D. Good luck. |
