silverhawk 06-05-05, 12:34 AM	Recently where I work someone attempted to throw away a box of Sci-Fi and Fansty books. I rescued the books from certain doom to find a whole lot of books written by one ANDRE NORTON. ANDRE NORTON has the honor of being the 1st person to write a D&D novel. Called Quag Keep. And what do you think I came across in this ben of books. Quag Keep 1st Printing I am like totally in awe. I so want to read it but I also dont want to break the spine on the book. O well to the shelf it goes.
BadCatMan 06-05-05, 01:28 AM	There are ways of reading a book that don't involve breaking its spine. Just try not to open it too far, and try to keep the parts of the book close to the spine close together by pushing with your fingers. This may bend the covers a bit, but this easily fixed by keeping it flat afterwards. Keep it in a tight plastic bag when you travel to keep the corners from being damaged, or from being banged about. No book should ever go unread.

This is very easy to do once you're used to it, and should be taught in school to avoid totally unnecessary damage to paperback books.
