More funny anecdotes.

This belogns to an acquantiance of mine. Here's the synopsis of one of his party's adventures to a tropical island.

The PCs arrive on the island.
They find out it's also an active volcano.
The volcano is showing increasing activism.
The city leaders wish the PCs to investigate and make sure there's nothing instigating the volcano.
Various clues by the dm point to a homebrew type of evil fire-type humanoids.
The barbarian decides to climb up the mountain and try to intimidate the humanoids.
The barbarian discovers that there are no humanoids.
The barbarian decides to try to intimidate the mountain directly.
The barbarian rolls a 20.
The DM decides to humor him and summons a massive fire elemental.
The barbarian decides to intimidate that.
The barbarian again rolls a 20, the elemental got like, a 3.
The elemental runs away and the volcano goes dormant.
The rest of the party doesn't speak to the barbarian's player for the next two days.

The volcano is a protestor?

The volcano is a protestor?
That's what I was thinking.

Anyway, funny. Sounds like something I'd have in one of my campaigns.

Meaning it's getting ready to blow up, and if you have similar stories then share with the group. :P

I’ve got a very short one

While in a wooded area in the Dalelands a huge monster (with improved grapple) attacks the party

Paladin/Purple Dragon Knight charges the huge monster

Huge Monster grabs and swallows PC (his horse was lucky/smart enough to avoid the grab)

Paladin/Purple Dragon Knight begins making FORT saves to avoid unconsciousness while inside monster. His high HP allows him to survive the continuing damage from the creature.

Paladin's powers & High CON let him easily make FORT save and he begins to cut his way out.

Rest of the party backs off and begin to make ranged attacks

The Bard (with a CON 10 & REF 12) charges the monster as is grabed

I’ll leave the rest to your imagination. Suffice to say the party was looking for a new member in the next town. However, now we have a great saying whenever a player has just made a poor tactical decision, "...and the Bard charges."

I posted it in another thread, but why not. My own claim to ingenuity is that I was once playing a wizard, eating with the party in a nice restaurant while we investigated some missing persons reports. My character notices that by "nice" restaurant, this place charges about 5 plat per meal. We're all level one. We don't have that money.

So I reach into my component pouch and take some fireflies I use for my light spells, and I drop them in my soup. Then I start freaking out. One of the other players gets all concerned and starts yelling how I'm allergic to bugs. The place starts rioting, we walk out. It ended up getting burned to the ground by the end of it.

In a related note, we were at another inn later that day, brought up the topic of the kidnappings, and the innkeeper turned bleach white. I tried to relax him then press him a little more, and he ended up dying of a heartattack. After that we proceeded to take over the inn and started running it like we were the owners.

This is old for me but funny. My very first DMing experience, if i remember correctly.

The PCs were all in the woods. Two fighters and a ninja, all level one. I had a snake attack them just to give them a little experience and because i was teaching newbs i thought it would be a way to teach them how to fight (I had been playing for a long time just never DMed). Well, first thing i know they are attacking the ninja instead of the snake. He tries to climb the tree and fails. One of the PCs finally attacks the snake after it attacks him and fails to hit it (rolled a 1). The ninja attacks the fighters and fails. The snake attacks the ninja and kills him. It then moves on to the fighters who only twice manage to hit it before it kills them also.

I stopped DMing for newbs then. I still DM but only for my group and a little bit on the internet in the chat server.
