I'm interested in making a druid who focuses on his animal companion.
I've tried looking, and found very little feat wise for ways to augment my companion. Are there many ways to improve my companion? Possibly a variant where I lose wild-form?

Oh, man, I'd kill for my collection of books right now! I can't give you much, other than to check out the Beastmaster prestige class from Complete Adventurer. It's not so much improving your animal companion as it is getting more animal companions. Maybe I'll be able to suggest some more when I get back to my books. Sorry I can't give you more.

I can't say I've seen feats for that purpose, but there are tons of spells you could focus on.

Actually I'm doing this same thing (although for a character not for my own) mainly through prestige classes, feats and spells. I just posted a similar thread in the classes section.

There is awaken, if you are high enough level.

Also check out the exalted companion in the book of exalted deeds. Basically turns your furry into a celestial furry. My druid friend has done that to her wolf.

There is also wild cohort which effectively gives you a second companion.

I have to check beastmaster, thanks for that one Sunblast, don't know how I missed it.

As a side note I seem to have accidently placed my druid thread on this same topic in the races section. This is probably due to the fact that I am an idiot.

The Mage breed template in Eberron. Makes pets less squishy.
