Do they get experience of their own, or do they level when I do? Keep in mind my character doesn't have any levels of ranger or druid. Also, do they level the same way a PC does (feat every 3 levels, ability every four, ect)? If someone can explain this, or point me to where I can find it, it would be appreciated. Thanks for reading. |
| psionichamster01-12-05, 12:05 PM | as far as i can tell, they don't i know, it sucks, but the advancement for monsters rules really dont take the fact that a pc may be raising and caring for an animal PAST its maturation point... ie, advancement usually means the monster/animal in question is especially tough/larger than a "normal" member of the species... best guess...talk to the dm about making this animal your cohort and take the leadership feat...then the animal would gain xp based on the formula (cohort lvl/ pc lvl) * pc's gained XP... or, get a druid/cleric of nature to awaken it, or find some template that you can adventure to get applied to your critter friend...celestial/fiendish seem easy enough... kinda hard to imagine a half-dragon/ half-housecat for example, though but, like i said, i am unfamiliar with rules for advancing a critter with the "rear" portion of the handle animal skill...and i looked all over when my halfling sorcerer decided that a pack of wardogs would be a valuable asset talk to the dm...perhaps he'd allow the critter to advance as a hireling/cohort... those are my suggestions, i am sure there are more the hamster |
