Kind of a dumb question...but it's big in my eyes because if I don't start having fun w/ my character...he's going to retire or commit suicide. Alright, I'm a 5th level ranger and I just got an eagle...now I want to train him to do shiznet.... what should the eagle do? I think fetch is the most prevelant because he has weak attacks, so it'd be better suited for him to be able to grab books, goblets, daggers, etc. But what should the other trick(yes only 2 right now) be? I'm thinking protect or attack... any suggestions? Anyone made there own "trick" that would suit my eagle well? Thanks for your time.

There is a list of tricks in the PHB, along with trick "groupings" that are good for training an animal companion for a specific purpose (hunting, for example).

Several of the tricks are very useful. Attack, guard, heel, you name it. It really just depends on what you want it to be able to do.
