It sayst he oil abilities are perminatate and they are magical oils, not anything associated with anything really good. Plus the weapon of the character gains these abilties perminately as well and it seems to not limit the abilities if another character uses this weapon. So what i'm thinking is that in this class if you become ex or do something that turns the character evil you only cannot progress in it any longer. Since this class has no particular supernatural powers besides what is done through "research" and through Alchemy it doesn't seem like it would lose any abilities. |

It actually says that the annointed knight concocts a magic oil at a cost of 100 GP for alchemical components. Applying the oil takes place in a ceremony that lasts 8 hours. The alchemical research is only one part of the whole ability; the ceremony is where the supernatural ability takes hold. Although it is not implicitly stated in the anointed knight's description, the introduction to the PrC's chapter of the BoED says that a character who ceases to be of good alignment or who willingly comits an evil act loses all special abilities and spells acquired in the PrC. Since Anoint Self is a supernatural ability, it seems to me that the ability to do it, as well as any formerly permanent abilities gained through said rituals would be lost. Also, since the Anoint Ancestral Weapon ability requires an Ancestral Relic feat (for which you must be good), I would rule that the weapons abilites and enhancement would go dormant until such time as the character's alignment was good again and an atonement was made, therefore reducing the weapon back to "mere" masterwork quality. Just the way I read it, though... |

| ToiletGecko04-24-04, 09:32 PM | Actually, there's nothing about Ancestral Relic that specifies the character must be Good. Anyone can take it. Just like all the other General feats in BoED and BoVD. As for the Annointed Knight, since it's so similar in flavour to the BoVD's Warrior of Darkness, I might allow an AK who falls into evil to trade in AK levels for WoD, much like a Paladin/Blackguard. |

Actually, the BoED specifically states under the prerequisites for the Ancestral Relic feat that the character must be of any good alignment, as well as 3rd character level. Despite the fact that it is a general feat instead of an exalted feat, I would assume that the prerequisites would still have to be met to gain and keep the benefits. |
