09-20-04, 09:22 AM I'm not really sure what you mean. There are some nifty print campaigns, such as the Temple of Elemental Evil or that adventure path in Dungeon. They are making a new one in a couple of months, you know.

09-25-04, 01:17 PM There really aren't many downloadable campaigns for 3.5. Lots for AD&D and 2nd Edition AD&D, though.

You should consider picking up a Dragon Magazine (you can have it shipped to you if need be) subscription... your other options are to make it up yourself, or try an online search for the keywords: +D&D +3.5 "Campaign Download"

09-26-04, 11:55 AM Well, actually, just a 3e campaign would be preferable since I'm still living in the Stone Age and haven't transitioned to 3.5 yet. Good idea, Shekar, but I also don't really know where to get illegal software.

There'll be international shipping but if you order the lot, you can combine it all into one shipment, and media rate shipping isn't that bad. It's also the sort of thing that would be unlikely to disappear along the way.

You didn't mention what part of africa you live in, but if it's South Africa, I'd imagine that the larger chain bookstores could order what you want.

Sure. But there was no such promotion if, as the poster said, copyright laws do not extend to Africa (I may be WAAAYYY off though...not an international copyright lawyer). It would be like telling a 20 year-old in Germany to go to a bar for a drink. Perfectly OK.

And I tried making my own campaign, but it was really cheesy and I'm too lazy to try again. If you had any ideas as a basis for a campaign, you could give me those.

Have you tried the downloadable adventures from WOTC? They may be a little short but you can tie several together to make a campaign if you needed to. They may need some tweaking to fit your group and style of play but I have found them quite useful.

If you are still running the 3.0 books. Nothing beats the SUNLESS CITADEL. It is a really good 1st-3rd level mod.

I am sure that you can find the Sunless Citadel on ebay or Amazon etc... The 8 mods that came out for the 3.0 ed are pretty good. There are a couple that I didn't like the back story for, however they all are challenging and fun to play.

What I'd recomend for a campaign is what I'm doing to set up my first (woohoo, first attempt at dming next year)

Decide on a bad guy, a reason he's bad and his overall polt. Steal from movies or books that you particuarly enjoy. It's what my current DM is doing and it works very well, even if the players occationally mutter, 'wait, isn't that from....'

Once you've got a bad guy you can go through the downloadable adventures from wizards and pick some that fit. Might need some tweaking, but should work.

If you check the 'What's a DM to do' forum (or might have been the DM's guide forum) you'll find threads like '1001 plot hooks' Read and 'borrow'

You said that your last campaign was lame. Was that a comment from your players or your own opinion

Though this is veering wildly off the main topic, yes african countries are subject to some form of copyright. Look at the disputes over generic AIDS drugs. Also check out the WTO provisions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TRIPs) from wikipedia.

09-30-04, 10:40 AM Hey! Unless this subject is totally dead here is the most kick ass campaign setting for DnD... Midnight - Against the Shadow. This is the absolute best campaign to use since it encompasses everything from magic to alternate races. It has reason for the way the world works, reasons for why there is a main “bad guy” and how to run in the world. Its use of magic is different than traditional DnD but if you take the time to try it out you will see that it is a much better way to use magic in DnD.

Also if you are looking for something free, cause you would have to buy the above books, I have a Drow Forgotten Realms campaign that I have mostly written up that you are welcome to use if you are interested just email me at wonkothesane42@hotmail.com

10-01-04, 12:54 AM RPGNow is one of the biggest sources of downloadable material I know of, but you need a credit card, though there may be useful stuff in the free section. Branching off from that is also RPGHoard, which is entirely free, but mostly 1st and 2nd edition stuff (and other RPGs) -- converting the 2nd edition stuff isn't all that hard.

I won't even go into the previous idiocy...
