| Justinfernal05-07-04, 11:30 AM | Before I even begin, so help me if anyone suggest NWN I'll polymorph you into one of Rikishi's thongs... With that said my gaming group is thinking about playing a campaign online with each other over either IRC or an AIM chatroom. It sounds good so far but my only concern is that tactical combat will suffer. Without the map I don't see how we can accurately keep track of how everyone is positioned each round, and that limits the effectiveness of some feats and spells designed for tactical movement in combat. So I was wondering, anyone know some good programs to help facilitate online play of D&D or D20 games in general, specifically being able to simulate miniature combat like I was talking about? I've seen some online, but before I go downloading stuff I wanted some reactions from people who have experienced good software themselves. |

In both cases we use AIM. In both cases, the DM uses jpg's to "draw" the battle grid, providing a URL for the players to view the map. This method works just fine for us, most of the time. It does rely on the DM refreshing the image fairly often - at least once a round, sometimes more. |

Although he did take well to DM Genie and used it competently to speed up pen and paper sessions. That Klooge one looks real good I'll have to download the demo of it, thanks. |
