I was thinking about it. After reading the first five books (the color of magic, the light fantastic, equal rites, mort, sourcery) I can't put them down. They are just so...for lack of a better word...Pratchett

Good Omens hooked me on the author. Discworld's put me in a straightjacket, locked me up, and gave the key to The Luggage.

Anyway i think it would be good fun to play in such a world, and when i DM next i'm definately going to try. Now, has anybody else thought about it? Or actually done it? Cause i'd love to see what you've come up with.

Well, Steve Jackson Games have published GURPS Discworld and GURPS Discworld Also. You could use these books as background material and as inspiration for your own D&D Discworld house rules.

I also recommend using Unearthed Arcana as a resource of variant rules for a Discworld campaign.

I've had a bit of a vacation from DnD. Are Unearthed Arcana and The Expanded Psionics Handbook out yet?

Where do you get these GURPS things? What does GURPS stand for anyway?

Generic Universal Role-playing System. Don't let them fool you. It's not.

But the books are great source material.

Does GURPS play like 3.5 at all?

Not to my knowledge. Then again, I may be wrong.

And Kenkai, Unearthed Arcana is out, not sure about the XPH tough.

Gaming stores might have them, if not order them off of a site or something. They're not too hard to find.

Both books are out and sitting on my shelf as we speak...

GURPS does not play like 3.5 - it's a point based system with a 3d6 base. GURPS fourth edition should be out sometime soon - most game stores should have a copy of the GURPS core, and most good game stores should have copy of GURPS Discworld... And most Discworld fans who don't buy the latest novels as soon as they come out in hardback should have enough cash to get it... which is why I don't have it :(

Thanks for the info ^_^

Are the hardback copies that rare? I'll buy all of them if i can get them! I know the paperbacks are easy to find but i'd much prefer owning the hardbacks.

There's a fairly interesting thread on discworld d20 at the "d20 for grins" board... which is where this belongs.

Nah... they just cost the same amount as any other hardback... Which is not much less than a standard D&D book. I just buy the hardbacks because I abouslutly need to get my discworld fix in when the latest book comes out - that, and hunt down all other works by Terry Prachett...

Do you think that my local bookstore could order hardback editions of all of his books? I mean, even the old ones like Color of Magic.

Thats what i meant by rare. Is it possible to actually get them at a *cough* reasonable price? Thanks.

I think you'd have to special order them, if they aren't a new release - Most books stores aren't going to be stocking back supplies of the something like 30 books series all in hardback - most won't have them all in paper back, for that matter... :nonono:

well i better get cracking then. looks like i'll have to put anime and dnd books on hold...i can't afford it all!

meh i'll just have to do it slowly. on the bright side my parents are paying for all of the paperbacks so while i collect the hardbacks i can read the paperbacks.
