| Wabbit05-25-06, 01:49 PM | I know the Fafhrd & Grey Mouser series had a big influence on D&D, and I need some new inspiration, so I want to read this series. However, it seems like all the stuff by Fritz Leiber is out of print, but I might be able to find compilations and such. What I would like is to get the books in order, but I can't figure out what the titles would be, since I know they were collections of short stories. Can someone help me know what are the first few books in the series to get? Thanks! |
| Seeker9505-25-06, 02:07 PM | Google is our friend: Lankhmar: Tales of Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser (vol 1) (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1565048741/002-9943491-2215223?v=glance&n=283155) (If the URL does not work because of the ampersand, search Google for "Fafhrd & Grey Mouser" (without the quotes, but with the ampersand) and it should be the first one that comes up. |

| Bruunwald05-25-06, 04:38 PM | The original "Swords" collections of short Lankhmar tales were (not in order): Swords and Deviltry Swords Against Death Swords in the Mist Swords Against Wizardry Swords and Ice Magic The Knight and Knave of Swords Which were out of print for years. A few years back some small company promised to reissue them. I can't remember what their company name was, but here is an Amazon link to the cover of the only book they published that I was able to get my hands on: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0743458281/sr=8-1/qid=1148589083/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-9386982-2609635?%5Fencoding=UTF8 That's Book II. I assume they only printed off five or six copies of Book I, since I never once saw it in a store anywhere. Book II got a good ten copies off before this company went bust on the venture and slipped into the void without a word. A quick search on eBay shows plenty of older Leiber compilations for sale used. |
