Guess what?!? I always play a Swashbuckler with levels in the Dread Pirate Prestige Class....and I saw the new Pirates of the Carribean 2 movie, and I absolutely loved it. It inspired me to sort of run a new sort of campaign that is primarily sailing, and battling other pirates and Krakens. I absolutely love pirates, and this just pushed me over the brink of sanity. I just wanted to know if there are any other people who love to play swashbucklers or Dread Pirates....or if anyone else just loves Pirates....

That movie is insulting to real pirates world wide.

Yeah! Real pirates hijack ships off the coast of Somalia using RPG-7's and AK 47's!

On a serious note, I do like pirates, but not a whole campaign of them. Its nice to throw the touch in when characters sail or come in contact with coastal cultures.

I actually am in a pirate campaign right now. Pirates are cool I'm in a pirate campaign right now. I, as Bohica, am not thrilled with the idea of doing it as a whole campiagn but our group is small so I have little choice but to comply.

Had a pirate campaign in 1985. It was a lot of fun.

Yarr! That pansy Land-Lubber Orlando should allow a real man to play the role. The pansy made Guybrush Threepwood look like a badass.

All back to plunderin and Wenching! Grog's on me!

No! Ninjas are superior! NINJA!!!!!
Anyway, you just inspired me to do a water-based adventure. Thanks for the idea!

Gambit, if you are that excited about pirates, have you lookd into Dungeon # 139 that will release in 2 months? Its new adventure path is the Savage Tide, and is all about pirates and sea adventures.

I once played a really fun, unusual pirate campaign. Our party had encountered a githyanki ship on the Astral Plane, and it attacked us. After a relatively hard battle, we killed the crew and took the ship. We then took the ship, and started to plunder and kill evil travelers that we found on the plane. It was a lot of fun.

Ront...does have some history being a pirate....

He also had a reoccuring Scrag villian that was a pirate....

But, to say I play Pirate chars and like pirates. Not reallly....

I don't like Ninjas much either...

Personally, I'm a good old Arcanist, an Illusionist with a Evoker's passion and a Transmuter's joy of manipulating my world.

That or a good old Barbarian.

Pirates are cool witht he whole plundering stuff, and ninja's are awesome cause they jump of walls Matrix-style and stab your face with a katana, but I would have to say ninja's win. Especially ooze ninjas.

The Dread Pirate Roberts.
Have you ever considered piracy? You'd make a wonderful Dread Pirate Roberts.

Heeheee! I love Pirates! I once owned an online forum-based RPG that was all about playing pirate PCs. Got old after a bit though. All ya do is lie, cheat, and steal.

I have yet to play a D&D pirate character, but I have introduced a pirate ship to the current campaign I'm running. The captain and first mate turned out to be doppleganger rogues. The players were not impressed. :P

By the way, I have the Jolly Roger hanging in my window. :D

I like pirates and I have played them before, blasting things with cannons is worth while.
