| Priest_of_Shaundakul10-13-06, 06:54 PM | And it need not be from a long session, it could be one where many hard decisions had to be made, many battles fought, or many puzzles/quests to complete. |
| vancouver_dndplayer10-13-06, 08:14 PM | I once was coming off a cold and played in a Friday evening (7 pm to 11 pm) session. I was dead tired at the end and I gave myself a laugh as I thought "How could I get worn out by playing D&D"? |
| Shaggy_Shaggs10-13-06, 08:22 PM | I once played for 8 hours, took a 1 hour break, then played another 20 hours. That one was rather tiring. Those that've been tiring from mental burnout, psychological strain, etc: too many to count. Many of those were when I was playing playing an antihero so disagreeable even I didn't like him, though he was interesting to play. (Char was an extreme racist, I'm not. I was very grateful when certain other characters took measures to help the character remove his head from his ass so he lost that aspect.) |
| TheChilliGod10-13-06, 08:55 PM | Uhm, played for 6 hours, 2-hour break for dinner, then another 6 hours was probably my most tiring session. Especially since I had never before stayed awake till 3:30 in the morning. It took me two whole days of grogginess to get back to normal. (An hour of Daylight Saving time being taken away from me didn't help much, either) |
| Sarella Starshine10-13-06, 09:00 PM | well, i have had tiring sessions, not because of the mental stress of the session or the length, but because i was about 7 months pregnant and was doing a night game followed by an early afternoon game. needless to say, that did not last long (about a month). |

So, does your baby play? Or dream about playing. :D Most tiring session I've ever played would have been my most recent one over at a buddies place. I normally get to bed around 9:00 PM my time. I was up 'till around 6:00 AM. Boy was I destroyed. Got about four hours of sleep then got up and watched a bunch of movies, drove home, and went right to bed. :p -Gene |
| Androlphas10-13-06, 09:05 PM | I'm always exhausted after running a game session. I tend to get real invloved, hamming it up, etc. I don' think I ever sit down once the game begins. |

| TheMeanOne10-13-06, 10:45 PM | The Barbarian was enchanted into wanting to stay in an Oasis as mayor. 4-5 hours packed to the brink with intense combats, heavy roleplaying and extreme stress. Not that the usual sessions are dull or light on combat or roleplay, this was just a whole other level. It wasn't a long session, but man was I tired at the end. Best session ever, though. |
| Dark Stryke10-13-06, 10:57 PM | There was one time in which I was up till 1:00 AM before the session writing material, then went to work for four hours early in the morning (9 to 1), and only then did I go over to a friend's house and run the session I had crafted. Everything went well and we all had a blast. We stopped for about an hour at 7:00PM to get pizza, then went back to playing. At midnight, I called a halt due to incredible exhaustion, but my players begged me to keep running. So we played for another 3 hours, the last two of which I was running off the top of my head (so much for planning out the whole session). I was so drained at the end that I just fell right to sleep on the bean bag chair I had been DMing on in my friend's basement/room. When everyone woke the next morning, they all agreed it was the best session they'd played in all campaign, and a few of them said it was the best session they'd played ever. Period. It was the most tiring sessions I ever ran, but one of the most fun. |

| JiobiValen10-13-06, 11:51 PM | Hmm.. Longest game i've played was about 16 hours nonstop, however this was done for 2 days in a row with little sleep so it was probably over 30 hours in that amount of time. And yes, it was exhausting.. |
| rudie10-14-06, 01:23 AM | probably 12 hours with a 1 hour break for chinese food. |
| Board_Rider10-14-06, 12:50 PM | My most exhausting session was actually last weekend. After not DMing for awhile I have been doing it as of late. Well, last weekend I DMed Sons of Gruumsh. The sheer amount of Orc NPCs that I had to keep track of was a pain. I was happy when that session ended. |
| SeptimusMagistos10-14-06, 04:40 PM | No. I play DnD for relaxation. |
| quidtartarum10-14-06, 05:09 PM | Hi everyone. Im new and I saw this thread. anyway i am a dedicated D&D player. Every Friday my friends and I play for several hours at a time. our last session went for 12 hours. That was exhausting. |
| CharlieRock10-14-06, 09:13 PM | As a DM I've had some sessions where I felt numbed out. Usually after a long session though. |
| Issabella10-14-06, 10:08 PM | Each new years days, a 12+ hour session of gaming. Usually the GM has it on a major plot point/battle/confrontation point. The last plot arch, and infact age ended last new years game. |
| Man in the Funny Hat10-14-06, 11:53 PM | The most drained I've been just from the game itself rather than the duration of the session is probably when I was running a Star Wars campaign under the original d6 system. It was a VERY high energy game and keeping up the action and pacing was exhausting. |
