Something that was posted on another section of the board (I can't find it or I would link to it) got me to thinking about how many people use the WP/VP and armor as DR per the Star Wars d20 rules?

If you don't use this or haven't thought about it, please don't post. If you use it, what adjustments do you make for DnD? If you have only thought about it (like me) what do you think should be included?

I've been thinking about using WP/VP. The thing I don't like about them are the way critical hits and sneak attacks work. But I like the system for the fact that your character doesn't have to get cut up every combat. Most of my characters are rogues and swashbucklers, the types who would faint when they get wounded.

I've thought about using armor as DR too, but it seems a bit complicated to me. Then again, it would prevent the ridiculously (and often pointlessly) high ACs full plated characters can have.

Unearthed Arcana has rules for WP/VP. They are slightly different from StarWars but in the same vein. if I remember in StarWars DR applies only to WP not VP. In Unearthed Arcana your DR applies to WP and VP.

Useing this requires a little work up front. For example, monster WP/VP and AC, weapons with high crit multipliers gain increased critical threat range, the class based defense bonus, how doe this inmpact healing spells ect. All of this is addressed in UA.

Its not impossible, its just a few extra steps to take. It makes the game feel cinematic like the Starwars RPG. Regaining all your VP at the end of a "scene" helps keep the PCs alive.

I used this system for one campaign and then ditched it. I can't be bothered to explian it to those who are unfamiliar with it. Besides I'm not a big extra-rules fan. If you like the idea try it out. It's kind of cool.

Hope that helps.

I have thought hard about it. In the end I asked myself: 'Would this make the game more fun?'.

Which is why I don't use those systems.
