| Newbie1501-09-08, 05:09 PM | Say there was a battlefield of 1st level fighters and a Player charges an alley and uses their standard action to cast a held charge of cure light wounds. During their charge they pass through 5 AoO of hostile npcs armed and engaged in melee combat. Do they get their AoO or no? |
| Einvaldurinn_mikli01-09-08, 05:14 PM | You can't cast a spell and charge in the same round, barring something going on that allows you to(like quicken spell e.g.). As for your question, yes they would. |
| Kala200001-09-08, 05:14 PM | If the player passes through squares threatened by the 5 npcs, why wouldn't they get attacks of opportunity ? |
| Newbie1501-09-08, 05:15 PM | Thanks for the fast response ohh and they charged the spell on the previous round sorry if I was unclear, and I'm unsure of what you mean Kala I believe mikli said they would. Why I didn't know if they did? My player argued the action table says No. I argued that it had 1 next to the AoO and he argued so did the 5 foot step. I argued the book mentioned the 5 foot step AoO and left it unclear about charging so I would ask and I did. If anyone disagrees or agrees I would appreciate it for it may validate it more clearly then one affirmetive agreement in my favor or perhaps a book with the text, because the other arguement is the Hold the Line Feat is now useless. I said it helps with being charged. He said all he needed then was 10ft reach. Is this true? |

The actual act of charging does not provoke an attack of opportunity. However, the movement you make during the charge provokes as normal. I think it's mentioned in a footnote of the table (but I don't have my books to verify). |
