| xdahnx07-15-07, 04:26 PM | Hey there, I'm about to send my 4 best players through it, because it seems very interesting, and very difficult at the same time. There appears to be a balance between RP (diplomacy, interacting in towns, etc), Combat (tough critters, my god), Skills (never seen a Listen-or-Die before), and Puzzles. The group that is going to begin it is as follows: 1 Rogue (later moving to fighter) skill MONSTER (able learner, high int, something like 48+ skills at first level, moving to fighter thug variant) 2 Ranger (who gave up track to get trapfinding and disable device; oddly enough the rogue has no ranks there) 3 Wizard 4 Cleric or Druid, he can't decide We're going to start from the beginning, next week, and I am looking for some advice: perhaps a heads up of things to watch that maybe you have found as you have run it, things i should look out for, etc. I would appreciate any advice on the matter; will the group be well rounded enough? i think so.... let me know and, of course, if you are in my group, try not to read this ;) thanks! |

Make sure to watch out with the wolf encounter at the very beginning. Tends to kill PCs if the wolves are played semi-intelligently. Some of the other encounters are randomly absurdly difficult or hideously easy. My ranger and my friends Cleric two-manned the lizardfolk den while our companion was dicking around somewhere else. |
| xdahnx07-15-07, 10:03 PM | well, the rogue intends on only taking one level of rogue (at least for now) and moving into the 'thug-variant' fighter; he's going to be a fast moving, trip, combat control something.... less on the sneak attack, and traditional rogue stuff....hes not even taking disable device he wanted the other skills |
| eamon07-16-07, 09:29 AM | The rogue might want to consider at least taking 4 levels of rogue as that won't cost him further base attack. For a mere 6 hit points he'll get 18 skill points, Evasion and Uncanny dodge. And if he really wants a lot of combat options, he'll want fighter feats and not the thug variant. |
| xdahnx07-16-07, 10:36 AM | well, really i think it's his character design, as opposed to trying to optimize i was looking more for advice for me, as DM, running this campaign, not necessarily how the rogue can max his combat options... |

| druidicdragonhunter_21407-17-07, 07:08 PM | I only ran part of the first session with my friends but I recommend keeping an eye out for the acid beetle swarm/ mad slasher combo. We had our ranger killed during that fight... then again the druidess was already unconcious when the fight began because of an earlier encounter with brown mold  |
