Apostle of Peace..Core Class [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-14-04, 11:39 PM How unbalancing do you think it would be, to have the AoP, be a core class. It would be heavy at the first, giving all the Vow's needed to enter into the original class. Give the pacifying touch at 12th level, and Censure Fiends at 14th level. Perhaps giving access to one domain around level 10?

09-15-04, 12:35 AM Ya know, as long as you balanced out how heavy it is in the beginning(say, maybe the only 2 things it gains at 1st level are Sacred Vow and Vow of Peace, or whichever Vow they use. Or, perhaps, give a weakened version of Vow of Peace, and buff it back up to its original speed at a later level. In this instance, remove the appropriate vow as an optional feat, and as a class dependent-ability, like Laying on Hands for a Paladin.

09-18-04, 04:50 PM I would advise against it. One would have to modify other classes in some way, to keep it fair. PrCs are meant to be beneficial/strong...and something that is earned.

09-18-04, 05:40 PM I really don't see the problem with making it into a full class. You get d4 HD, bad BaB, you cannot gain wealth, you cannot attack unless it's undead or a construct. As long as the abilities are in line with where the PrC had them, like the touch coming at level 12, and turning fiends at level 14..then what would be the problem? The class itself, would give spells only from the apostle of peace list(with a few additions from other source books, that follow the same line of thought). You could make a couple of special rules for the class, just as other classes do. At level 1 you gain sacred vow, and vow of poverty as a 1st level bonus feat. At second level, gain vow of nonviolence, and at 3rd level vow of peace. Move the 1st level bonus exalted feat to 3rd level, then progress as normal. Just set those feats in stone..and don't allow anymore. A human could accomplish this at level 2...by using his 1st level feat for sacred vow, and his human feat for vow of poverty, then his bonus exalted feat for vow of NonViolence. At second level, vow of peace. This just puts it into a class. A cleric, could basically do the same thing..with better HD and attack progression. The only things you get that clerics don't, as a class benefit is the touch, and the censure of fiends. Sorry this became a rant apprently..

Honestly, I gotta agree with him on this. Apostle of Peace hasn't got a very wide variety of abilities, just very strong ones, and they would be very difficult to stretch out into 20 levels and still keep balance all the way through.
