| Count Arioch the 28th09-03-06, 05:25 AM | It was made back in the day where the enhancement bonus for arrows stacked with that of bows. But even in that day and age, that wasn't a great abilitiy, because you could get a better effect by having the party wizard cast Greater Magic Weapon on your arrows. (A big mistake that most people on these boards and even some game designers make is that D&D is a cooperative game, and it's entirely plausable that the PCs might cast spells on each other to help the group as a whole.) I recomend dropping the enhancement bonuses to arrows, and giving it at least 5/10 spellcaster progression. |

Therefore not having spellcasting increase is most certainly on purpose. Besides, full BAB, two good saves, and good spellcasting just weren't done in the early days. There have been many posts that add some level of spellcasting to the AA. Some would just add spell casting every even level to what is already there which is too strong in my opinion. More reasonable poeple at least give up something for some spellcasting like the Count's suggestion. If you start adding too much spellcasting then you really aren't playing an arcane archer any more but a spellcaster who uses a bow. If you want a full BAB and improved spellcasting try the SpellSword or Eldrich Knight instead. Reasonable DMs may let/help you make some changes to those classes (mostly in the skill list) to better fit you character concept. |
