10-06-06, 03:10 PM Hello, I am trying to create a Hexblade that can eventually use a Spiked large or maybe even a tower shield. I was wondering what would be the best way to go by doing this.

I have looked at getting Armored Mage PrC, that would be 10 levels, less if I use mythral. Is there any better material that reduces Arcane spell failure chance?

EDITE: I am also looking to let me Hexblade use Heavy armor with out an arcane spell chance failure. Please! What would be the best way of going by that?

10-06-06, 06:36 PM Mithral plus the Twilight enchantment (it's a +1, so cheap) equals 20% reduction in ASF; enough to use a large steel shield with no problem.

Good point thanks. Now what about letting my Hex Blade use Heavy armor without an Arcane spell failure chance? How is the best way for me to do that?

Battle Caster feat + Mithral armor is the easiest way. Or you can use the above tricks. May need a way to actually be proficient in medium armor first -- AFB, so I can't confirm if they have medium proficiency by default.

Or, you could, you know, just drop arcane spell failure altogether. Seriously, it's not unbalancing to the game in any way so long as you leave the proficiencies in place.

10-09-06, 05:33 PM Thanks. I just found that Battle Caster feat my self. Problem solved! I am going to lots of fun with my Hex Blade wearing Mithral Full plate, eventually.

It is sort of in the wrong place. Think about it, the only use a Duskblade has for the enhancment is for mithral heavy shields. As soon as they get battle caster they can wear any normal armor with no problem, at all, with any material.
