arcane focus [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-05-04, 12:58 AM I was just wondering if i could make an item that could act as an arcane focus for a spell. For example could I make an item enchanted like a ring replace the arcane focus of the jade circlet for the shapechange spell.

If so an interesting idea might be to create a wonderous item that can change it's shape into the form and material of the arcane focus.

06-05-04, 03:54 AM I think the basic formula ends up being that for a material component for this. So max cost of focus to be emulated* 100 (infinite charges). So one which worked for shapechange would end up cost 150,000gp and it would work for any focus costing less equal to or less than 1,500gp like analyze dweomer and attonment.

06-05-04, 03:18 PM I don't that is a good price. By the books I see it. But those are just base formulas. I would make this item cost... maybe 25k gold. I would say it could emulate any focus under 2k gold. By the book it's not right. But I think that this is fair.
