To D&D's R&D:
Is it possible to introduce these creatures:
Arcbounds (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=mtgcom/arcana/490)
to Dungeons and Dragons?

There should be MTG sourcebooks for d20. That would be sweet. Those cards are always high on imagination.

Only way I can think to replicate this is to make modular a subtype of construct. Each mudular creature could use a full round action to scavenge parts off a felled comrade that is also a modular construct. This could give AC and Str bonuses, as well as restoring a certain number of hp.

Just an idea, take or leave.

An arcbound is a collection of mechanic pieces, held together into a single composite form by pure magical energy. It has no possessions and no weapons. It stands 8 feet tall and weighs almost 500 pounds.
An arcbound is 12 feet tall and weighs about 5,000 pounds. An arcbound cannot speak or make any vocal noise, nor does it have any distinguishable odor. It moves with a ponderous but smooth gait. Each step causes the floor to tremble unless it is on a thick, solid foundation.

Combat

Energy Beams: 20-foot cone of force, free action once every 1d4+1 rounds; 3d6 damage, Fortitude DC 19 negates. The save DC is Constitution-based.
Piece Projectile: Once every 1d4 rounds, as a standard action, an Arcbound may fire one of the pieces it is made of at a target, dealing 1d8 bludgeoning damage. The pice lands between 5' of the target regardless of whether it hits. The Arcbound may call the piece back the following round as a move-equivalent action.

Yadda-yadda.... Everything else as in Monster Manual, except for a The Following (purely homebrewed) Special Quality:

Deconstruction: An Arcbound may deconstruct itself to take advantage in combat. As a standard action, an Arcbound may send part of it up to 15' away. The Arcbound, then, can command this part of itself to move and attack as a move-equivalent action (the energy beams are reduced: the Arcbound deals 2d6 and the deconstructed part deals 1d6) . It can be used to flank opponents.
Reassembling the deconstructed part takes a standard action.

P.S: Maybe it's too powerful? CR 14 seemed OK to me....
