Archangels, anyone? [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-25-03, 10:49 AM We have the Celestial Hebdomad for the Archons, the Five Companions for the Guardinals, and the Court of Stars for the Eladrins. And yet the actual Angels themselves don't seem to have any "paragon leaders" themselves.

Seems like a nice place to fit Archangels, along the lines of Michael, Metatron, Uriel, etc. They could be epic-level Angels of the highest order, such as truly powerful Planetars and Solars, respected by all the other Celestials (even the other rulers) and acknowledged as mighty champions and leaders of the forces of Good, who nonetheless stand outside (or beyond) the hierarchy of the other Celestial races.

Any thoughts?

10-25-03, 02:37 PM I've already introduced an astral deva NPC to my adventuring party who has a necklace of prayer beads (summoning). What the players don't know yet is that the target of that summons is Michael Himself (maximum advancement solar with 5 divine ranks, until I think of a better way to stat him). Should be interesting if they finagle themselves into a no-win situation...

Angels certainly have paragon examples (such as Xerona, guardian of the portal to Chronias). However, I don't know if there's really a decent way to go about it outside of just making some really advanced planetars and solars, as angels don't have "leaders": they exist to serve the powers of Good directly.

10-25-03, 02:50 PM Doesn't mean there can't be a group of most powerful Angels who are respected as Elders and Champions amongst their kind, with Good alignments ranging from Lawful to Chaotic.

10-25-03, 03:16 PM Of course not. They just wouldn't have any real power structure of their own. Which in turn makes it hard for me to decide if they'd have unique powers (like the hebdomad and the varied demon princes), or if they'd just be super-powered versions planetars and solars.

Solars are already powerful enough to kill demigods, so yeah. just make him a 5th level exalted Paladin and you've got your man/woman/whatever.
