Are they useful? [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-04-07, 11:59 PM Planar Guide and Hordes of the Abyss

I know they are both older books (in the sense that their not new) but I never really looked at them. At first they didn't interest me, but the most recent issue of Dragon made me go and look at them.

Planar Guide to see if I could find the Keepers (which I couldn't) and Hordes to look at the Queen of the Succubi (sp?).

After skimming them I thought they looked pretty good.

So are either one of them good?:confused:

03-05-07, 03:03 AM I own both the Planar Handbook and Hordes of the Abyss, and I would say that they are worthwhile investments only if you plan to acually use at least some of the information therein. Otherwise save your money and buy something useful.

03-05-07, 09:32 AM hordes of the abyss isnt even a year old. But both books are useful if you are dming a planar campaign. If you are not DM in a planar campaign they are not vey useful. A player might find some use for hordes of the abyss, through feats and some spells but there are nto enough to make it worth buying as a player.

That said hordes of the abyss is one of my favorite books out so far. and planar handbook is pretty cool as well.

I'll give them a more detailed look firts, but they should be useful since my grop is about to do a big Planar Game real soon.
