Okay, so we just recently added a new player to our D&D group (a current player's gamer girlfriend). She had never played D&D before, and we were walking her through the character creation process, when we got to the point where we asked "What languages do you want?". The obvious reply of "What languages are there?". So, we opened the PHB to the language list, and after a few moments of selecting, she asked another question: "So, Sylvan is spoken by Dryads and Leprechauns?" We laughed for a moment and set the record straight. "There's no leprechauns in D&D. Yes, Sylvan's spoken by pixies and dryads, though." After we got a momentary blank look, she pressed the point. "It says Leprechauns right here." *shows us on page 82 of the 3.5 PHB* Leave it to the person who is unfamiliar with the text to find the holes in any manuscript. :P

...So... Wizards.... Leprechauns? You've got some splainin' to do. ;)

Leprechauns have been extinct for ages, but they are not yet forgotten!

Someone should make one. Small fey, anyone? It should have create gold and some stuff with rainbows (the gold needs not be permanent).

Brownies? Leprechauns? What the heck? I think some editor may have inserted that as a joke...

I made a Leprechaun race!!! Look here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?p=9641663#post9641663)

I like leprechauns and I use them a lot in my campaign. Most npcs are gnomes, haflings or leprechauns.

Leprechauns have such distorted abilities though. I mean look at the Iconic Leprechaun Lucky.

He's so earth shatteringly powerful he can turn the moon, THE MOON into a marshmellow!

But he can't stop children from stealing his lucky charms.

There used to be leprechauns, but they got muscled out by all the abberations. Now they hide somewhere with no definite purpose. Perhaps in the realm of the faeries?

2nd Edition had brownies and leprecahns...but they were apparently hunted to extinction by adventurers. I will say though that their absence from MM IV totally convinced me to not buy that book, who needs another freaky beast when the classics have yet to be provided in 3.5.

Ah yes, the Great Leprechaun Hunt, I remembered it well. Mind you, we're werent hunting them little bumpkins for their pots o' gold. They just make tasty briskets.

I believe you will find both brownies & Leprechauns in the Tome of Horrors series of monster manuals from Necromancer Games. These books cover many of the classic monsters we know and love.

Eye of the Deep anyone?

leprechauns!! aaahhh!!! if they're anything like this (http://www.ugo.com/channels/filmtv/features/leprechaun_in_space/images/leprechaun_1.jpg), their inclusion is fine by me! (even if it IS a typo)

I totally wanna make a gnome illusionist named Tastey Briskettes the Leprechaun.

It does seem odd that there isn't a traditional core low LA fae player race. (I don't count the Killoren and they're the only ones that I can think of that come close). It woulda been a good addition to Races of the Wild imho. Brownies would fit the bill perfectly. Pixies are cool, but I think Greater Invisibility is just too powerful for players.
