I was thinking of being a Wiz/Cler with 1) a Familiar 2) a Homunculus 3) Golem 4) Shield Guardian 5) Summoned creatures 6) Called creatures 7) Hired mercenaries 8) Trained pets 9) Cohorts 10) Leadership's followers 11) Animated undead 12) Controlled undead Is this legal? any improvements? comments? I know this requires a HUGE amount of money... and most likely an epic char... |

| Bluehero04-20-06, 08:35 PM | Is this a villan? Having your own personal army might steal the spotlight from the other players. Otherwise, I would image with money, effort and a lot of fighting off good people coming to stop you from starting an evil army, it would be doable in the rules. As for summoned creatures, they have durations measured in rounds, not so great for an army. You might want to try heroes of battle if you want to do like a whole campaign around battling an army, but it isn't really neccessary for just a few encounters. As for improvements, you might want to be a mystic theurge, maybe specializing in undead, as they are easy to manage and have low upkeep costs. Try to get followers as mages or evil clerics to heal your undead, using the assorted zombies/ skeletons as shock troops. Building some golems as heavy hitters would be a good idea, as would be getting some seige engines for more heavy hitting power. |

| meatrace04-21-06, 01:26 AM | definitely go wiz/druid. druid gets animal companion and can spontaneously cast summon spells. also, don't forget about rings of djinn/efreet summoning and figurines of wondrous power. i had a character like this. monkey familiar, 4 items of djinn summoning, a sentient magic carpet, figs of wondrous power, and followers. we called it "khesti's instant army" |
| OravennasBrother04-21-06, 03:44 AM | Further depending on the size of armies, yours might be large enough to attract atention but too small to have a chance against said attention. |
| Seeker9504-21-06, 10:48 AM | If you are a player, I agree with a_psh. I would NOT want you playing in the same game I am playing. If you are a DM, it doesn't matter how you justify it. Just do it to present your players with a challenge. |
| reese04-21-06, 02:51 PM | well not so grand as the OP's, i once played a paladin/ranger/sorcerer, thats a mount, an animal companion, and a familiar... use the sorcerer to summon, pick up the wild cohort feat and leadership... or you can take a feat from CAV to combine your ranger companion and paladin mount... i had a light warhorse mount (paladin), a dire wolf companion (ranger), a hawk familiar (sorcerer) and i trained a pack of elven hounds (4, RoW) as well as picking up a cohort with leadership. it was a small group though, only three PC's total counting myself |
