Hi, I'm Dave, and I can't seem to find any artwork threads for some reason (maybe I'm going blind), so here's the deal, I love making art and stuff, and I love getting criticism on it (so I can learn from it and become better) I also love being comissioned to do character portraits. Here are a few samples of my work (some of which is going to go into a campaign setting I'm building) If anyone's interested in comissioning art from me, PM me for a price list (it's really alot cheaper than you might expect)

on with the show!

This is a Gallow's Ghost. I'll stat it out eventually.

Here's a Ghost Engine, one of Nine like it that scour the sulfur plains in search of souls to fuel their engines:

The ever-impetuous Tong Tou Wei, master of the horse and general of thousands:

A one-page depiction of Tong's barbarian infantry ambushing a larger force:

This is Sigalf, my Hexblade in a Campaign a friend is running:

And finally, a little bit of fanart:

The art is well done good sir! About how long does any particular picture take to complete?
What is the first ghost holding?
The horse is superb! (I have a fairly difficult time depicting horses.)

I like your art style. Your charcters are expressive and well proportioned, also l like you color choice and usage. Well done, you've certainly got talent.

I work digitally, and -usually- a portrait can be done in about 6 hours (assuming software doesn't crash, etc), but I like to give myself 2 days, because I don't always have 6 straight hours to work on something (and some more challenging things will take longer). Backgrounds cost a little more, just because I've been having difficulties with said software, and sometimes my layers crap out on me.

The ghost is holding a noose, actually. The Gallow's Ghost is the spirit of a Judge driven by a need for justice. they hang out around gallows and like to take away the souls of evildoers. or those they THINK are evil doers.

The Ghost Engine is holding a huge greatspear, enchanted with Ghost Touch and Negative Energy Burst.

This sounds extremely interesting. You work digitally? How does one do this? Do you use anything like a pencil/pen at all? Or is everything done with the mouse (that sounds painful).
What's the name of the software? Would you recomend it? Have you ever used Macromedia?

I use a wacom graphire3 graphics tablet, and generally use opencanvas, I also use photoshop a little bit, and paintshop pro (each program has ups and downs)

I actually work for a company that does stuff in macromedia flash... though I don't do any of the graphical stuff in it. I generally make concept art and another team member vectorises it.

I love the Gallows Ghost, and nice predator. Can you do the Alien? They Rock. (A kobold wouldn't hurt either :D )

I used to draw the alien creatures all the time, but now I haven't in forever. they take alot of time to look right. and a Kobold, I could do, though, it'd be more interesting if it was something like a Kobold Bard/paladin or something goofy like that

I can't seem to find any artwork threads for some reason (maybe I'm going blind)Thats because there aren't any on the D&D boards. We've got an entire board dedicated just to artwork, thats where all the art threads are.

For future reference, you might check The Art Gallery forum here (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=10&f=391) .
There are many there you can compare with.

(It's under the Wizards.COMmunity Creative Corner section of the boards, which is not intuitive to find from the D&D boards....:D )
