I'm trying to make the assassin from the Dungeon Master's Guide, based upon that picutre of him. Can anybody tell what that second sword is on his back? Also, does anybody know his name?

And he doesn't have a name, that I've ever heard anyway. That was before they started doing in character quotes, so he likely doesn't have one.

Yes, looks like a longsword, as it's parallel to the one he/she's already wielding.
Either a backup or a seconday if he/she switches to double sword style.
I say he/she because we shouldn't assume that's a man, it could be a woman. For what we know, it could even be an elven dark lady.

The name ? Most of the assassins don't go by any name anyway. And they are happy with it. Discretion is the key in their profession.

Thanks peoples! ^.^

I figured it might be a longsword, but I just wanted to be sure.

Well, time to finish the sheet now! :D

Well, if you want to give him/her an oriental look, you can replace the longswords with ninja-tos and the dagger/kukri with a tanto.

By the way, if you like this character, the Spell Compendium displays two other pictures of him/her,
p112 & 246.

The assasin's name is the Nameless Assasin. She's quite an interesting person: link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anNtAshm30s).

You'll not likely get any game-oriented advice from that, though.

yup... she is the nameless assassin from the DMG

what do you mean elves don't cause cancer? I knew a guy who had a dog whose grandma died from elven cancer!

I'd say short sword (if he has TWF it would be better to have a light weapon)

That was a typo by the secretary. Turns out she was surrounded by eleven cancer mages.

@Seldriss: Nah, I want him to be less oriental. I gave him shuriken, but called them throwing knives instead to keep flavor.
By the way, the ninja-to never existed, historically. ;)

Thanks, if no one had posted that, I would have done so. :)

Thanks for those pictures! I think I'm starting to like the idea of a Greyhawk campaign where he is a halfway major character.

Although I don't use pictures of him/her for my class you may want to check out my assassin class in my signature. The two first posts have a lot of assassin pictures in it :)

And that, kids, is why you should read threads before you post on them.

Actually I did check to see if anyone had linked it but I failed my spot check.

That kids, is why you don't make wisdom your dump stat.

That and will saves. Enchanters can get to to do freaking anything...

I personally think that the assassain in the DMG pic is using a short sword (from the pics in the Spell Compendium, it definitely is a he) and kukri with a bastard sword strapped to his back. That way he can switch from two-weapon fighting to two-handed fighting as the situation demands. The miniature of him from Night Below has him using a long sword and a dagger. I would make him a rogue 3/fighter 2 with at least five assassain levels. Two-weapon fighting is a must.

There's a mini of the assassin in Night Below. If you assume the RPG stats reflect the character in the DMG, it's a LE male Rogue 5/Assassin 4 with a longsword and a dagger. :D

Yes! I knew I was close! xD

I made him a Rogue 5/Assassin 5.
