| eca06-23-04, 10:54 AM | i am currently a samurai ( only lvl 3 right now ) but i want to turn lvl 11 or 16 im going to turn assassin. but you have kill someone to join the assassins so, does it have to be cold blooded? do you have to attack? what if you have to kill some one on a mission, does that count? i need answers, i dont want to be on the run the rest of the game. |
| Big Dawg06-23-04, 11:34 AM | They way I do it is to have a current member of an assassin's put a hit out. Either he gives the mission directly to the Player's character or the Players Character finds out about a hit indirectly and goes and does it on his own before anyone else can do it. By this he gain notice from the guild. |
| eca06-23-04, 11:37 AM | but would they take care of the price on my head? ( if any ) |
| Vix Damnul06-23-04, 12:27 PM | First, make sure your DM is ok with this, second, i don't see any reason why an assassin's guild would take care of a price on its members' heads, they're evil for one thing, and for another, a good assassin doesn't get identified. Any old idiot can charge a mark and hack him to death, but an assassin has to make the kill and get away, ideally without being seen or caught. That's the point of assassins, reuseablity. It's really up to the DM how one would become an assassin, if it's even possible in his game. For all i know, you could qualify as an assassin by killing some goblin who insulted a noble. |
| eca06-23-04, 01:34 PM | ok ill ask the DM when we play, but dont you think if you were seen or in trouble, the guild would look out for its own and get the price off your head? or would that be the thieves guild? |
| Big Dawg06-23-04, 02:45 PM | ok ill ask the DM when we play, but dont you think if you were seen or in trouble, the guild would look out for its own and get the price off your head? or would that be the thieves guild? OMG I am going to Quote the D&D Movie!!! Honer amongst Thieves...You must be joking! Ok shoot me now ;) No really, If you are a good assassin no one will know it's you. and if you get caught I would expect the assassin's Guild to deny it, that is if the law can even locate the guild to begin with. They'll melt away and let you get rocked. that's what evil assassins do. |
| eca06-23-04, 02:59 PM | first off, i wount be a good asn for awhile :( , second, if you ARE a good assassin, the guild would look out for you, because they wouldent want to loose a good member of the guild. Lastly ASSASSINS ARE NOT THIEVES, so honor amungst thieves wouldent apply. :tantrum: |
| Big Dawg06-23-04, 03:44 PM | Dude assassins are Evil. It's a requirement of the class. I meant "Good" as in doing a good job, not "Good" as in Good and Evil. Assassins are evil, they kill people for money....EVIL If you want to be a Good assassin then you and your DM should do that on your own. If you want to bend the rules, that's cool. as long as you have fun. If thats the case then just do it. Maybe make up a "no women no kids thing" your Character goes by. |
| eca06-23-04, 03:46 PM | ? |
| eca06-23-04, 03:47 PM | Maybe make up a "no women no kids thing" your Character goes by. [/QUOTE] wtf??? |
| q'afuu06-23-04, 04:19 PM | Originally posted by eca f... if you ARE a good assassin, the guild would look out for you, because they wouldent want to loose a good member of the guild. If you're a good assassin (as in, good at your job), you wouldn't get in trouble and the guild wouldn't have to look out for you. Getting in trouble and needing guild help is a sign of incompetence. If you're Good (as in, of Good alignment), you're not an assassin. |
| q'afuu06-23-04, 04:21 PM | Originally posted by eca wtf??? Reference to the movie Leon (Jean Reno, Gary Oldman, Natalie Portman). |
| Tahl'ira06-23-04, 04:23 PM | eca, if you're planning on being a good (As in alignment) assassin, you can not. Its right there in black and white. From the SRD: Requirements To qualify to become an assassin, a character must fulfill all the following criteria. Alignment: Any evil. Skills: Disguise 4 ranks, Hide 8 ranks, Move Silently 8 ranks. Special: The character must kill someone for no other reason than to join the assassins. Emphasis mine. |
| Phist06-23-04, 04:26 PM | BTW, "No women or kids" would be lawful, not good (Not killing someone isn't the same thing as doing them a good deed) And if you want to be an assassin, I suggest you get some good con poison. And not just injury. It's alot easier to get someone with an inhaled poison than an injury one and puttling a bit of contact poison in someone's clothes while they sleep is much subtler. Also, make a couple of good disguises. Belive me, the come in handy. |
| incarnadine06-23-04, 04:37 PM | there is a good assassin version in the book of exhalted deeds. Slayer of Dominel. I actulay like it more then the assassin. |
| eca06-23-04, 04:38 PM | first off let me say I KNOW YOU CANT BE A ****IN GOOD ALIGNED ASN I KNOW YOU HAVE TO KILL SOMEONE TO BE AN ASN, Jesus. sry to rant like that but seriusly, if you read the top part of this disscussin you would assume ( i hope) i know how to become an ASN. just to let you know, all i have to do is kill some one to join, i got the stats ( thought youd like to know ) Lastly, i have read every piece of info about ASN's in the DMG so dont talk like i dont know about them. thank you for your time. |
| Big Dawg06-23-04, 04:48 PM | Reference to the movie Leon (Jean Reno, Gary Oldman, Natalie Portman). The movie is called "the Professional" and God damn what POA Natalie Portman is now! I saw her in an Ice cream shop by my house and I tried to talk to her and she shot me down in flames  first off let me say I KNOW YOU CANT BE A ****IN GOOD ALIGNED ASN I KNOW YOU HAVE TO KILL SOMEONE TO BE AN ASN, Jesus. about a 9 out of 10 on the tension scale there huh? relax, you'll live longer. I think they way you kill someone should be up to the DM. I already said how I do it. you can use that if you want. No the Guild will not or at least should not cover for you. at least in my opinion. |
| eca06-23-04, 04:51 PM | can you get a hit taken off your head at like a thieves guild ( like in morrowind?) or do you have to take the punishment? P.S. im calm now, its just like 3 ppl sayin the same thing and its like no **** retard. |
| incarnadine06-23-04, 05:36 PM | i'll say again: there is a "good" assassin version in the book of exhalted deeds. Slayer of Dominel. |
| eca06-23-04, 05:39 PM | ya we heard you ( and no one cared ) :heehee |
| incarnadine06-23-04, 05:45 PM | then screw you and your lawful good assassin. |
| eca06-23-04, 05:46 PM | your the one with all the sissy assassin crap :looloo: |
| Khan the Destroyer06-23-04, 05:52 PM | I'm not sure what this thread is about anymore, but I think the poster was originally wondering about killing someone to join the guild. I don't think you can kill someone in self defense or anything as trivial as that. The requirements specifically state that you must kill someone for the sole purpose of joining the guild. So to answer your question, "yes", you must kill them in cold blood. |
| eca06-23-04, 05:55 PM | kool, if i got that post at the begining, i could've been done with it, but now i feel attached to this thread. :weep: |
| q'afuu06-23-04, 06:19 PM | Originally posted by Big Dawg The movie is called "the Professional"... Released as Léon in Europe. Mostly European production, French director, French lead actor... I consider the European title the original one. ;) |
| eca06-23-04, 06:21 PM | ooooooo burn, you just got burned, burn dude, burn.- Donut, RedvBlue. |
| simen_8806-24-04, 07:58 AM | I would never allow a player to kill in self-defence or even pick his own kills. The kill is chosen by the guild, and this is what we know as "special discount". Like when you have an apprentice hairdresser cut your hair. |
| eca06-24-04, 10:26 AM | that would suck for me, our DM woul make me kill a judge, or a knight, or something really hard. |
| Zherog06-24-04, 10:48 AM | That's kinda the point, eca. It isn't supposed to be easy. |
| eca06-24-04, 12:16 PM | but its not supposta be impossiable either:bump: |
